As soon as Fiorentina Giannotta came onto the scene of IUOMA, I knew I needed to make supplication for her mail art. I LOVE her portraits...so much color, so much detail, so much whimsy, so many layers of texture... look how she fills the space of her canvas in the piece to the right. And the historical vestments and hair wigs, etcetera, all add to a sense of story for each figurative character.
Recently I received this new portrait facsimile and a couple of Fiorentina's calling cards with even more of her fabulous artwork. Fiorentina has studied in New York and at Florence University in Italy (where she now resides). And I'm so enthralled with her artwork that it inspires me to try new things. How can anyone NOT be inspired by that kind of figurative and decorative artwork??!?! Truly... Something More Than Mail Art, indeed!
Even her extra-large envelope has all the bells and whistles (and a lovely cameo)... at least, I think those are bells. "RING! - RING! -CLANG! - RING!" Some wonderful mail art is enclosed!!
Thank you, Fiorentina!
