Received from Roland Halbritter, Germany--Post für Otto

Ein Mail Art Projekt

I recently received this wonderful book full of a vast range of interpretations of the 19th-century figure of world affairs. The Otto von Bismarck mail art call was active for 18 months and Roland received over 900 pieces, no small response to a complex subject. Inside the front cover is an original stamp above the book number--just one way in which Roland personalized each book:

And here is Roland's mail art of Otto:

The mail art I sent is displayed here in the upper-right corner:

Every page is a page to admire:

And the back cover is equally delightful:

To quote Roland: Whether bizarre, ironic, humoristic or critical, all the objects have one attribute in common: they have all been sent through the world-wide postal system and therefore they have all become examples of charming Mail Art...representing a sophisticated quality of democracy."

Arttower--good to hear from you--there is no doubt in my mind that the show opening was fantastic. I think it's great that our Otto contributions are on the same page of this book.
