Received: Abstract Mail-Art from Arttower (Aschaffenburg, Germany)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Arttower (Aschaffenburg, Germany)

January 4, 2011 - Arttower is a PRESENCE at the IUOMA and in the mail-art world. This beautiful piece (above) he sent me shows his talent and more serious side as an artist. Previously, I received a series of much more humorous pieces. Arttower sends work to many friends on a global scale. I do not know how he keeps track. From what I see, he produces postcard size "editions" for his mailings. This is a different approach to one-of-a-kind, one-to-one exchanges (although I'm sure he does that too). And I think this is an approach taken especially by established mail-artists who have developed very large personal networks. Arttower makes good use of every part of the postcard and always has interesting stamps:

I saw a post from from Arttower explaining he is suffering from a virus. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery and many thanks for this great mail-art. His blog is tremendous. Because he sends and receives so much work, you can - in one place - get an overview of what is going on in mail-art at any given time:
