There's something about finding priority mail from Finland in your mail box that's terribly exciting. A year ago I would never have dreamed of having any kind of mail from Finland let alone priority mail. But there it is. Carina's Nancy Drewesque illustration with thoughtful query overlay (courtesy of Manya Pletsch of Zurich).

This is the kind of  open-ended narrative that I can sink my teeth into. And of course, I love Judy's nightgown. But the real meat of the mail was Carina's pictorial description of Gum Arabicum Etching which will be tricky for me as I lack an etching press but I love the description which I find remarkable since Carina's is writing all this in English. If someone asked me to describe my creative process in Finnish I'd be finished. Thank you, Carina.

Yes, Diane, perhaps it's somekind of photo transfer! I have unfortunately no image left of the Robot but I have this,

the piece to the right is the original, done on computer and printed on regular paper. The piece to the left is the result printed on heavy graphic paper. Images should be very bold and black for good results. The results can be very uneven even though you are doing everything correct...

Carina, could you show us the original you made the copy from? If you still have it....

Just to refresh the collective memory...here is one of Carina's gum Arabicum prints.

Where can I cheaply and easily obtain an etching press? Great stuff from Carina!

Thank you both of you! The illustration is from a Girl Annual book I bought in a old bookstore in USA. Old bookstores are my favorite places of all. Ah the description.. hm, not the best, needs to be practiced..   :))
