Some time ago Dean and I had a discussion about a particular type of vintage tourist postcards, where an image of the place is placed within the letters of the name, which I like. Dean came up with the term "raised letters". And now he really sent me a somewhat larger than normal card with raised letters from Strassbourg. I am not sure if it is clear from the scan, but the letters STRASBOURG are lovingly cut out and stuck onto little pads, so they float about 3 mm above the card - no photoshop effects here. On the reverse side the "negative" of the letters is reused over an image of a nice restaurant. There are lots of other little glimpses of Strassbourg, eating and drinking and also a bottle of white wine. But hang on RIESLING is an Austrian type of wine - are the French actually cultivating Riesling too? Dean thank you so much, you put so much work into this piece! I am having a lot of fun with this Unofficial, Unlicensed, and Unauthorized piece of Mail Art.

Happy it arrived and you replied within 15 days as mentioned.  As Alsace was once Germany, then France, then Germany, then France, a lot of the Germany wine making is left behind.  Marie W. will have my head for saying that. I am not a great fan of white wine, but Strasbourg is a very nice place to visit.

  Thanks for the fun blog.

Wow! That's the Artist-in-Seine!

Unfortunately email art cannot have "raised letters" and

the "feel" of real snail mail art.

'Love those see-through letters...amazing, Dean!

xxJones, you got a great card there!
