Invisible Squatter from David Stafford

For eight years we have been receiving mail for the ever elusive, Barbria Carter. Val Marque gave me the idea to make a series of "Barbria Carter Does Not Live Here" Mail Art. David was the first to receive one and this is his response. He has put my mind at ease to finally get some insight into who this invisible squatter is. The dark underworld of mail art seems to hold many mysteries and it is no surprise that Barbria Carter has become a part of that. The biggest mystery of this piece is:  Did it come postage due? And if so why didn't they collect it? And why are they charging so much for this? Did Barbria pay it?There is another squatter named John Clark--do they know each other? Or does their mail just pass like ships at sea? I have been wondering why the lingering scent of hair product is ever present-Barbria is a retro Stafford beauty. What are the odds of that?

Oh...no no....all is well...no one is owed anything...we're all cool....xx, the sofa is in the mail (expect two to three years delivery).

XX-are you sure David isn't sending you sofa sized art about sofas? that would be interesting. I'm about to post some bad art in MOBA. It is hotel art and the pictures are of the actual hotel rooms. kind of becoming a house of mirrors. David, I am so sorry about the postage due. The postage rates seem to be subjective based on the whim of the person scanning it. I definately owe you now BIG TIME. Between this and what I owe you for that wall sized wall mural of a wall, well, time for a second job

XX, I wish I could say it's in the mail but it is finished...just the, you know, postage thing...Diane, the postage due stamp was actually from what you sent me. It came in a special postal plasticine envelope delivered by the postmaster general Eduardo Gomez, a nattily dressed man in blue uniform with postal epaulets from which dangled the skulls of tiny forest animals, shrews and the like. He said, "I want to talk to you about the mail you've been receiving." "How so?" I inquired. "Well, I'd like to get on that mailing list if possible," he replied.

Wow, very elaborate and beautiful. That reminds me, David Stafford promised me a sofa sized work of art. :-) Got to get back to that other blog.
