The Joy of Majickformium

I found this cookbook: Mother McCready’s Starving Artist Meal Timer. Made famous by her much loved recipe,“Sixteen ways to Imagine a Stale Cracker is a Slice of Bread Covered in Your Favourite Condiment”, it is a volume that has stood the test of time. In going through the various suggestions I found one I had forgotten: Majickformium in a Box. What Luck! I have five proper boxes (bubble gum boxes are the best!). Sadly, when I went to my cupboard I found I was completely out of…

Stamp art from C. T. Chew

I received a great envelope containing a sheet created by Ruud and reworked by Carl. I am going to have to think about how I shall attack this one. For the moment though, here is what turned up in my mailbox!…

fluxus

I have been trying to understand the concept of fluxus. I’ve gone to Wiki, read some of the history and I still don’t have a concrete grasp. It’s no big deal, I’m not the sharpest puppy in the kennel. I did note however, that some people claim that fluxus died in 1978. Does this mean that people who do fluxus now are (OMG!) zombies? “I’m a superhero” will be so pleased if that is the case...

Another Red Letter Day

I don’t make it a habit to post everything that graces my mailbox but sometimes things occur that require such attention. Yesterday, my mailbox contained a treasure trove of mailart. Six pieces of mailart and a letter in a red envelope. Red letter day indeed!

From Rod Summers a wonderful laminated piece. I have a device that might be able to laminate. This piece has given me an impetus to find laminating media. Thank you, Rod.…

mailart and a question

Watching how so many people seem to post everything that arrives in their mailbox makes me feel a trifle lazy but if I did that it would cut seriously into my drinking time so it just is not going to happen. However, Cheryl Penn sent me a lovely piece of stitched artwork in a very interesting envelope and I would feel remiss in not posting it in all its entirety. Which brings me to my question. What is ZALOP?

Thank you for this, Cheryl!…

A mailart sabot*

Over the years I have sent my postcard artwork naked. It always bothered me that inkjet tracking marks would get put on the art side of the postcard. I wondered if putting the actual card on a larger surface would allow the card to escape the tracking depredations of the Post Office. :)

Checking out what dimensions were allowed and still remain the standard postage in price I made some test pieces and sent them off. From everyone who sent back a scan or photo of the card they…
