Interesting art received in the mail this week -- my first two pieces from IUOMA members. The first, a postcard of an art piece (paint on plastic?) is set out in grid-like fashion, much like the streets in the "South of Market" area of San Francisco (or any other city/street-scape for that matter). The second was simply two stickers and a…

Who doesn't remember Joséphine Baker? I go swimming in a pool named after her, and always thought she was French. But no, she was American. Born in St. Louis Missouri.
She performed the Banana Danse sauvage, wearing a costume consisting of a skirt made of a string of artificial…

Like Mother like Daughter, a double Dutch take on Christmas baking. So I guess we have all heard about Dutch ovens, (I see some of you running for google), but this one takes the cake ... or should I say mince pies!
This is where the phrase baked to a crisp in an understatement. Luckly Rebecca is a Mail Artist and can save the day. Great Mail Art. The text is…

Slightly belated once again, but this envelope was stuffed - there was so much inside that it took hours to compile...
First, the marvelous envelope:
As I wrote to Samuel, I never cease to be utterly…

You saw the photos, you read the blogs, but now the Mail Art is the real proof that Katerina & ViZma met up in Greece. And the mixing was carefully controlled. Katerina on the front and ViZma on the back, but then again it depends which side you pick up first.
Includes airline baggage tags, food ads and the receipt for a new swimming suit. LOOK OUT…

As you may have guessed, the tale of the lost dog was behind him and he could not see it due to his long hare.
I enjoy looking at this piece which has more details that the scan can not pick up. Very fun. Thank you Angie.

Inspired by DK's recent trashpo videos and the discussion which broke out on my previous blog post, Oh! For the Love of Trash! (which can be found here: http://iuoma-network.ning.com/profiles/blogs/oh-for-the-love-of-trash?xg_source=activity) Moo and I set out to see what we could discover of the remains of an old trash pit out…

I received two pieces last week from Dame Mailarta & Snappy. Same person, but just from two different days. I sent Dame Mailarta a self portrait and was thrilled to be found on the same page as Ricky Gervais & Doris Day. However what was really rewarding was to be on the same page as Phyllis Diller. Now an outragious 94 year old that made me laugh as a child with her one liner and crazy laugh. This is a dream come true. Thank you Dame Mailarta…
