this is a really nice stamp.
it runs all over the eye.
there's no quiet spot (in contrast to tomorrow's artist haven stamp)
the stamp has a medium, or eye level horizon
BUT THEN THE DAMN HOUND STICKS UP INTO IT
there is an ascending line on the left, with a palm tree and FLORIDA POST,
but that is broken off by the large 49, which moves your view point to the left, where there is a "Dutch tilt" or angular cut from both the tilting roof and the angle of the walk way leading to the lower right which could be a nice, simple exit.
But no, I've unbalanced everything to the left
AND THERE'S THAT DAMN DOG AGAIN, not with the perspectival plan at all.
I love that dog. It has these fat, sad eyes--or maybe he doesn't since you can't see his mouth. If you could you would know if he about to growl and jump at you (Protective Custody for the family) or that he's just given up (he's in protective custody).

What about that concept? Well, everything that has a rule is in 'protective custody' of that rule. Freedom is a paradox: you would have to be free of freedom itself, which would leave nothing at all.

haha. look: I don't really want to fill up the Mail Artist site with a lot of comments. Why don't you just mail me at cargan@stanfordalumni.org and I will answer

My Italian is better than my Spanish. My French is better than my Italian, and sign language is best of all.

Here's the home front view:

There is a river (Rio Grande in Americanese, Rio Bravo from the Mexican point of view), and a lake; the town is small.

30 to 40 degrees Celsius. Lots of wind. Very pleasant. Dry. Low humidity. Not tropical. Good for swimming.

The temperature is a modest 17 degrees right now. It will probably be up to 20 or 25 by the end of the day. This winter there may be only one or two days when it actually freezes, and then only just before dawn.

If you hurry, there's enough for a few shots

Yes. Del Rio has had two or three brief snow falls in the last 30 years. They last just long enough for the neighbors to rush out and take pictures.

It was certainly beautiful, but the days were gray: winter! I have tried a few stamps with that white-out theme but they are not very successful.
