The British Museum has an archive of photos of London taken in the late 1800s, the time of JTR (Jack the Ripper). These photos are all eerie in that you have to wonder if perhaps he was somewhere around, watching the photographer. I added the young flower girl cautiously walking through the courtyard alone, looking very vulnerable.

All of the photos I found of London in this time period were rather eerie!

I've been reading several books on London- lots of stories about what lurks underground in that ancient city.  Very cool piece that mimics the drippy, rainy feel London can have.  I love these old photos- anything pre-London Eye Ferris Wheel (which makes me cringe!)  The girl reminds me of Eliza Doolittle!
