Comment by Ian C Dengler on November 2, 2013 at 1:18pm: That would have been a challenge: "nothing but sky." That would have eliminated my stamp motifs with story title and name of origin. My candidates would have been in the fashion of Ad Rheinhardt: close-ups of clouds (all white, all grey), close ups of night (all black, or --as he did them, in complex drifts of very very dark), close-ups of sunrise (all red, all yellow), close-ups of a rain drop (all blue, or grey or--if at night--very very dark). Any color will work, and of course I guess I did participate by sending nothing: close-up of the sky after Buddhist enlightenment.

Comment by Ian C Dengler on November 2, 2013 at 11:45am: This is one of my focal centre stamps. However, most of the work went into the sides--to get the effect of both edges vanishing, along with a vanishing line curving off to the right (but blocked by the vertical of the trees ascending upward). I have balanced that by placing the lettering, HALLOWEEN BEAR COSTUME, off to the upper left. Montana is the "Big Sky State": not very many people, and a lot of time to contemplate the sky, the empty roads, the sky, the mountains, the sky, the lack of girls (there is an excess of boys as the ladies migrate more likely, to places like San Francisco, New York and Paris), the sky, the hay fields, the sky etc.
