Thank you MAMartha. Your card is lovely. I like the T-shirt saying about being out in the wind by the seaside. Yes, to that one! We had sun today after much rain. My garden looks wonderful! Hope it's sunny there tomorrow.
Your fabulous and delicious trashpo arrived. One of my daughter's friends was over and saw it and said "What's that?" I said==see all the candy wrappers and things--it's garbage from the UK. He said "'That's weird ". and walked away.. I guess us trashpoets are destined to not be understood----thanks for the great and inspired piece!
I thought it was cute too. He's 9. He probably wondered how someone could send someone candy wrappers with no candy, not realizing the trash is the candy to me:)
Hi Mail Art Martha!--so good to hear from you and thanks for being a friend. Of course I remember you and your projects. I've been to your original blog and have seen the e-books. Found my mail art in them, so thank you for including my postcards. FYI: I know Patti Bristow-- we are in a book arts group together. The group organizes the Book Arts Jam at which I'm displaying mail art received this year (including yours). I've posted the announcement postcard.
I'm delighted that you have sent something for my Call. Thank you and I'll see you in the mail.
Hi Mail Art Martha--your piece has until October 15th to wend its way across the pond. The Sept. deadline was to save me from being inundated at the last minute. So don't worry! We are facing cutbacks to the mail service here too--no Saturday delivery is predicted. I'll be sure to give Patti your greeting.
Hi Mail Art Martha--your mail arrived today. Thanks so much for helping to celebrate IUOMA's 25th--your card pulled it all together beautifully. It's been added to my IUOMA photo stream and will be blogged shortly at
Martha--I'm looking forward to your 'analog' mail art. I'm trying digital art on my iPad using the Sensu brush on Paper 53 app. But nothing beats the real thing for me. What I sent you is a piece of a monotype upon which I used multiple techniques. One is 'chine colle' (collage). Textures are pieces of paper upon I applied gesso using a brush and gesso which was combed, then inked; finally the flower is an inkjet transfer. All this took multiple runs through an etching press. Needless to say, it took several sessions at the studio to accomplish all this. This is more than you probably want to know--but just to say don't despair--just have fun!
Martha--your mail had not arrived as of Wed. past. I will let you know when it arrives. Mail across the pond usually takes 3-4 days. Eagerly awaiting your new efforts!
sorry not to meet up with you and others! I didn't reply hoping to pull it off at the last minute but not possible this time either. Trust it was fun and inspiring.
Martha--it's here. The Bluebird of happiness brought joy to my day! It is so exuberant-a reflection of your creative spirit!
I've been busy getting ready for Saturday's display at the Book Arts Jam and so have not been to the Post Office since Wednesday last week. I had a display at the Jam showcasing mail art that I received this year. Yours is there in the upper-third center of the display board. Read about my experience at this event . http://decordisart.blogspot.com/
Hi Martha - it was lovely to meet you in London - sending you one of my fabric postcards - am off to show a friend my haul (including your brochures & postcards) today - really enjoyed our lunch. Chris
I'm so glad you got my leaf. Yes, we have many maple trees in Korea. I visited Singapore on vacation and stayed there for 10 days. Your mail art arrived at my place while I was in Singapore. Thank you so much.
I'll send you something soon.
Love,
Kim P.S. I can't speak French. I can speak Korean, English and Japanese.
we need that right now as our cats have fleas. they are treated, but it's tough as they say the fleas are really bad this year. It's odd though because they are all indoor cats. I never understood that. The only other time it happened is when we took in a stray. How are things with you? looking forward to your mail art:) XO DK
lol--I hope it doesn't come to fumigating. the flea meds are quite expensive. I kind of admire the little bugger's tenacity and I'm wondering how anyone ever had a flea circus--maybe we can put them to work in a sideshow
I am very happy with it, Friend! <-- I mean, both Mail Art and you! :-)
As I detected a Cuckoo and many Snails in and on your mail, I couldn't resist the urge to publish these on my Real Weird Animals blog... Hope you won't mind.
By the way, the Royal Mail Company tried to provide the person on the stamp with a moustache, but I'm afraid they missed (should have been a bit more to the right). Anyway, lovely mail - thank you very much!!
What device do you use? An iPad? Do you use a stylus or your fingers? I have been contemplating buying an iPad. I have tried a bit of digital drawing and like it a lot. But I just used some online sites, designed mainly for children to draw - so it is limited.
Yes, the Samsung seems like a good option too. I actually like the finger painting - it was kind of liberating, because after all, if it turns out to be crap, its because of the finger painting, right? On the laptop I draw with my middle finger, while i hold down the trackpad with my thumb, which is awkward, but as I said, it gives my the excuse to just scribble on in a child like fashion. LIke drawing with your non-dominant hand.
I've heard of albino fruitflies. I hope they're not like albino brain chiggers. ANYway... I think all of our ffs are plain ol' 'black' and all we're gonna find is pix on Google.
BTW [and now for something completely different] I see Dell has a $99.99 usonian dollah color LED printer that has a stated cost per color page of $0.21.
Industrial and poetic! That's exactly it, tho' I've never been able to articulate it so clearly! It's a nickname - my parents call me 'petal' but I rebel against the idea of being petal like. I feel a bit 'enviromentally unfriendly' , if that makes any sense at all! I like to argue and question and find myself taking up the contrary position (no matter what it is!) ... but industrial and poetic expresses it so elegantly!
Thank you very much, Martha, for your great Year of the horse mail art!
I posted it in the RWA-blog, and the fantastic eraser stamp of the horse also in the rubberstamp group, so you can visit them there, in case you miss them every now and then :-) .
Thank you also for the change-of-address of Cascadia Artpost - I still owe Cascadia A. a mail art reply to the mail art sent, so thanks to you it at least will arrive at the right house :-)
