BANANAS

AKA Anna Banana Appreciation Band (ABAB)

The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana.  Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!

  • Rebecca Guyver

BTW: from Dean, Stripygoose, Carina and Katerina! Yeah.

  • Carina

Thanks all for wonderful, cool bananana mail!! I will post pictures on my page. Here is a detail of Dean's peach scented card and the sudden clarity banana. Have a great day :)

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Welcome to Stripygoose to the Banana BAnd.  Birds & Bananas, now that's going to be interesting.  Well both begin with "B".

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Happy interNational Banana apprecation day everyone

This is what I received as of today.  So thank you to Stripygoose Sue, Jay, Carina, Lynn, Rebecca, & Katerina x 2. They are all wonderful and Katerina even broke into a new dimension.

I will blog each one as soon as I can.  But right now I need to make and send one to Stripygoose Sue & Jay.

Thanks again for making this day feel like New Years day.

  • Rebecca Guyver

I've done a little blog of what I've received so far: bananas by: Stripygoose, Dean, Katerina, Carina, Angie, Jay Block

    http://thepostalleger.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/banana-appreciation-da...

I guess no banana from Keith (bad Keith) but expecting one from Mim, maybe Heleen?

  • Heleen de Vaan

Happy International Banana appreciation day to all from me, too!

Sure, Rebecca, I owe you (and all of you) my banana mail art of 18th November 2014...

But as you see, my banana art still has to grow. Not enough slices for everyone yet, but I hope (and expect) them to be there, and be sent, and arrive, before New Year's Day (so one more of this kind of day, Dean!)!

And I was lucky today: received beautiful Banana mail art, too. I'll post them here right now.

  • Heleen de Vaan

But first some pictures: these are sustainable energy creating Bananas.

(seen in a shop window in Paris, last May).

  • Heleen de Vaan

And some poor (because empty) Bananas at the Tuileries, also in Paris.

Who unexpectedly multiplied (wish my mail art did that by him/herself, too, then I would have been in time to send it in time... *sigh* )

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Received Banana Day mail art,

    Thank you, Katerina!!

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Thank you, Stripygoose!!

(I'll post this and the back side on my real-weird-animals blog later)

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Thank you, Angie and Snooky!

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Thank you, Carina!!

(The special stamp I'll post in the IUOMA-Vinyl group :-) and the envelope will follow on my real weird animals blog)

  • Heleen de Vaan

    WHich red Banana?

Ah, there he is (always had thought it was the apple's fault, Snow white should have left it in the old lady's hand):

    Thank you, Dean!!

How did you manage to have your mail - and all mail that arrived today - smell after peaches?

  • Carina

Hilarious mail. Thank you for posting, Heleen. And I loved reading Rebecca's blog... So glad I participated.

Ten minutes to two a.m. Finally finished my Banana Appreciation Day Mail for you. *phew*

I'll put it into the letter/mailbox tomorrow, hope they'll have a safe and happy travel.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Who needs sleep when you can be making Banana Mail Art?  Thank you for staying up Heleen.  We are all proud of you.  Looking forward to seeing your Fair Trade.

PS Peach oil is the only thing I had, but thought it would be funny anyway.  I'm now on the lookout for Banana essence.  In Paris Banana essence can be found in sex shops, but I'm too shy to go in those places.

(Just checking if anyone ever reads this stuff.)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Some great Banana Mail Art here!

So far have from Dean, Carina, Stripygoose, Lynn Radford,

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Thank you for the fun banana mail art!

...tally me bananas (and blogged :-)

Hello? Banana phone call from Paris

Banana Mail Art from Lynn Radford

Banana Mail Art from Carina in Finland

  • Alicia Starr

    Thanks Kat! very Warholesque.

  • Heleen de Vaan

    Received the most amazing envelope:

    - stitched to close (I hardly dare to openit, by this delicate beautiful thread line :-) ), and:

    - Banana shaped!

    Thank you very much, Rebecca!!

  • Heleen de Vaan

A mysterious large squared envelope arrived. Carrying these non-banana stamps. (I am happily surprised to see that these Greek stamps have been designed by our famous Dutch stamp-and-banknotes creating Joh. Enschedé).

You would have throw me out of the Banana group for these Grapes if I wouldn't post what was inside this envelope. So I do.

An amazing large Banana, cut out and sent by Katerina!

The inside contains lots of my favourite colour: Turquoise!

And a beautiful handmade Banana, with a too right quote... I should have been listening to MomKat!  (*sigh*  still sad that the Banana I've sent to Greece never arrived...)

    Thank you very much, Katerina!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Oho! I never get to see what postage stamps the clerk puts on "large-size" packets....I just pay. So Heleen got "September" ones, usually our 20 gram for mail art is only 90 euro, and they are "November".

And yes, Enschede designed them (no bananas :-(

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

There were two big bananas cut from the heavy-duty Chiquita box:

    where is the other one?

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

No bananas today in the USA? Pumpkin and Apple pie??

    Happy Thanksgiving Day!

  • Mim Golub Scalin

Au contraire! I made a banana cake, with pecans and chocolate chips - my families favorite cake.  Here are all of the Banana Mail Art pieces that I received. So much fun. I love them all! Thank you, Banana friends.

  • Mim Golub Scalin

Ooops, typo - family's not families. And I made the cake for our Thanksgiving meal, as there HAD to be bananas included.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Bravo Mim & hope you had a roll in the feathers after your meal.  No?  You watched football ?!!!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Have a fun thanksgiving weekend, Mim, and thanks muchy...

your banana arrived today in Greece, "Black Monday"?

Why not call it "Gold money"? :-)

  • Rebecca Guyver

I have a full peel of bananas now and have updated the blog with the bananas I received from Mim and Heleen! You need to read right to the end of the blog to see theirs!

Hope to see you in the Banana Mail Soon.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

I received this directly from Retailia.  But what could it be?

  • Mail Art Martha

Well your wishes are my command , Dean.  Here I am, repentant not to  have celebrated Banana Day, too many suff to cope with in this mai art thing but I would not have it otherwise.

    To everybody in the group:

    Happy and creative 2015!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Happy Holidays to the Banana Band! xxx

  • FinnBadger

Thanks to The Artist In Seine for this delicious mail that shows how a saddened banana or two make themselves happy again. More chips, please! And happy bananas for 2015.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Banana Mail...from Artist in Seine, or is it Cat Mail? :-)

    blogged:

Negative/Positive shapes of Cat Mail from Paris

Happy Bananas to ALL in the New Year !

  • FinnBadger

Forgot to ask... does Artist in Seine have a deal with the devil? Or maybe just La Poste? I didn't see any postage on the card...
  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Phillip, did it really arrive with no stamps?  Too bad, because it was a nice Paris one I put on.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

And while I am here, something on the bright side from Snappy.

The forth guy from the left doesn't look to happy about his banana.  Maybe Snappy can straighten him out!
