BANANAS

AKA Anna Banana Appreciation Band (ABAB)

The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana.  Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!

Hand painted by myself I might add.  Yes I did watch Kill Bill and also got some fancy cheese knifes for my birthday.  What did you think was in them?

  • Rebecca Guyver

Those killer bananas are amazing! Got my own banana bread recipe and this from Louise today. And the thing is I always have some black bananas waiting on the table...

And I keep meaning to say that a few years ago i was working in a school and the head of textiles was facilitating an A2 student to make platform shoes out of banana skins...  I wish I'd paid more attention.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Only Dean knows how to handle those Killer Bananas :-)

  • Louise Kiner

I was going to make banana bread today, Rebecca, but my bananas are still too yellow.
    Happy Banana Bread day!
  • Mim Golub Scalin

Me, too, my bananas too yellow.

  • Suus in Mokum

Oooh, what a great photograph, Alicia. I remember that day :)) first tasting off banana amongst the banana bunch!
  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

I like the Angie card, very funny, and yes I did look like that when I was younger.

WILLKOMMEN BACK to Erni.  As many of know, Erni lost his way and got into some serious art.  Happy to see that he is back on the banana track.  Don't forget to take your banana pills twice a day!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

MomKat slipes one in there by the skin of her banana.  Another Banana card from MomKat which was sent with some other things, which we will in on the main blog.

Funny but it is very rare to find Chiquita bananas in France.  Thank you Katerina

  • Carina

Just opened my package from Suus. A Banana boat with a charming Banana Boat Monster! Wow, thank you Suus!

  • Carina

Today I also got my Lucky Banana Foot from Alicia, no slipping on the ice anymore :)) Thank you, Alicia! Love your printing... on tracing paper?

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Lots of cardboard Chiquita banana crates here in Greece.

But the bananas do NOT have those cute banana stickers like in the USA :-(

Had to use the cut up piece as a "backing" in the envelope

for all those security envelopes, Dean!

  • Alicia Starr

Kat, the global stamps are forever stamps. So when the price of international postage goes up, these will work, forever.

  • Rebecca Guyver

I wish you could feel the banana grin and explain how Alicia made it! Everything about this makes me smile. I am saving the envelope for the blog.  Also great! Thank you Alicia.  Delighted.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Aha! thanks Alicia for telling about the "Forever" stamps...and I though it meant "America forever"...but it is forever Postage :-)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Dear Banana Band,

now that the Banana Mania February is coming to a close,

can i "egg" you on to make banana eggs,

or bananas in eggs or bananas around eggs? Or an EGG anyway?

    Check out mail art event:

EGG - Gallery of Colors Thessaloniki

    February 23, 2013 to April 23, 2013 – Thessaloniki and Aitoliko, GREECE

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Banana mania still arriving in Greece :-)

Four (4!) "banana bots" from the Haptic Werewolf!

    Thank you, Erni xxxxKate

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Banana Boots! (not banana boats)

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

That's a fun twist.  Booty Bananas.  I like it.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

See..like boot shapes with great collages by Erni:

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Erni is going bananas:

    blogged here:

    Going Bananas from Erni!

  • Valentine Mark Herman

What did you have for supper last night, Val?

    A boiled egg.

Why on earth are you telling us this, Val?

Beacuse it was a splendid egg and wore Suus' Banana Egg Warmer!

Here it is with the Le Coq egg holder (in the background is an Aboriginal-type canvas  in progress):

And here it is on an egg about to be soft-boiled (3 1/2 minutes) and eaten with 'soldiers':

Here's the timer -- also egg shaped -- it's called Andy -- that wanted to get in on the act, and asked if it could wear the Egg Warmer for it's 3 1/2 minutes of fame? How could I possibly refuse this humble request!

And, last, here is the Banana Egg Warmer on an egg in a vintage egg coddler that I decided to use as an egg cup:

Thank you, Suus! That was one of the best boiled egg experiences I have ever had!

PS The soldiers asked if you could make something for them, too. I told them that they were pushing their luck.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

'Love the eggs...and Suus' egg warmer :-)

I EGG you on to make 2-D eggs , max. size A4 because the exhibits

will be traveling around Greece, art needs to fit-in-a-suitcase :-)

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

OH is that what that was.  I thought it was a banana hat.  Silly me, but now how am I going to explain this to the happy banana?

Yes, those bloody barcodes are in the background. Work in progress, still. Thank you again Suus. A multi useful item for sure.

       Fun blog Val.

  • Carina

From Mim, the Washington Hilton with an incredible view of the Banana Monument!  Very funny, thank you Mim!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Angie's Banana  Dr. Hilbert piece arrived.  Detail shown here:

    What a lovely Banana couple.

  • Suus in Mokum

That is a great blog, Val. And the egg warmer looks even happier in Sigean than in Amsterdam. Dean, I'm think you choose the right purpose for the banana-monster-thingy or maybe they have extra small eggs in Paris? Greets to Andy, he's the real star of the day. Suus

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

I noticed that no one blogged Angie's banana backside.  I thought it was rather nice and should be seen.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

From Mim, a very deep question.  Is art art if we put a banana sticker on it?

    Eggsighting bananas from Suus!

Upbeat banana philosophy and a smattering of Dutch to keep me translating.  the owl is from the Bostheater which I think means the theatre in the woods. What a hoot! Thank  you!

  • Rebecca Guyver

Really chuffed with these banana calling cards from Dame Mailarta! SO wacky and fun.  I am smiling.

  • Louise Kiner

  • Mim Golub Scalin

I've received bananas from : Alicia, Dean, Katerina, Rebecca, Angie, Carina, and Jen. Sorry I haven't scanned them as I received them. My scanner stopped functioning, now I'm using a scanner printer that I share and isn't in my studio. A teeny bit less convenient. My bad. I love all of the bananas I've received. Gracias, grazie, thanks , merci, σας ευχαριστώ, kiitos  - Mim

  • Carina

  • Carina

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Janitorial Services and ...Japanese Restaurant in the

Yellow (banana) Pages from Dame Mailarta! Fun!

  • Rebecca Guyver

Apparently Anna Banana got two of my cards... including the one addressed to Dame Mailarta!  she sent me some samples of 2012 stamp edition (I've put one here and will put more in the big banana blog, coming soon!)  Anna also sent me the banana rag and her self portrait at work - for Ed Varney's annual Mayworks 2013. Fab! THANK YOU Anna, and for forwarding on the errant mail!

  • Rebecca Guyver

This arrived from Mike Leigh (UK) today.  I don't think he's in the banana group but I spy some bananas...

  • Mim Golub Scalin

How lovely you got banana mail from Anna, Rebecca. I remember seeing a video of her doing her laying out of the bananas in some venue. I think Val sent me the link. Val was there and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of him in that video.

  • Carina

Great drawing of Anna Banana at work!

I got also a bunch of artist stamps and the Banana Rag from Anna B, thank you Anna!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Clever Ad Erni,  So am I correct by saying.

    It reads: Fully Bananas

There are more rules for the trade in bananas than there are for weapons.

It's true, nowhere in the USA second amendment does it say; "the right to bare bananas".   Something should be done about this soon.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Anna Banana is having a call for Color Test Patterns.  She has something up her sleave, and needs a lot of them.  Help her out if you can.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Sorry for those of you who do not know, a "sleave" is a type of skirt worn in Northern Canada to keep the bears away.

It is also a good excuse for spelling sleeve wrong.
