The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana. Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!

"All fruits are related species of banana, which was the first fruit in existence. The Bible lied about the apple because they felt mentioning the word banana too undignified."
One is supposed to respond 'True' or 'False' to this statement, says Yoko.
Speaking of practical uses, I received these small wooden bananas and beads from Erni.
They came in a small brown paper envelope. I shake them and then pour them out on the table and they create amazing designs. Something different every time.
If you would like to make and send a Banana Mail Art piece on August 27, 2012, let me know and I will put a list together. No rules, you can send as many or as few as you want to the members on the list. This is what Google gave me: August 27, 2012 is Banana Lover's Day Banana Lover’s Day is the day for everyone and anyone who loves bananas to rejoice! Did you know that the average person eats about 33 pounds of bananas a year? It’s true—this fruit is a worldwide favorite.
A Quarter Pounder from Erni. Do you know why they don't have a Quarter Pounder in Germany? Because Erni would only send them out as mail art!
Well exactly 266.60 grams of dried Banana it turned out to be in the end. I really think the postman was wondering if it was a legal item or not. I can't wait to use it in a dessert tomorrow night. Big family dinner, and I thought it would be a good in a banana split. thank you Erni
The "guess who?" and "Bananen" stickers are missing, but it does have a sticker that says that it arrived in France on 16 July 2012. Maybe someone in Germany tried to smoke some of it before sending it on?
I decided to do some cross pollination. This is a photo I sent to the Cat Lovers group, but it has a Banana! The banana is filled with catmint. Amazingly, Julian doesn't eat bananas though he loves peas and sweetcorn.
So as we saw earlier, Erni's bananas spent one month on the road trying to get to Paris. but when the finally arrived, I quickly put them to use as part of the mail art performance. And by chance we were having a dinner party that very same night.
I brought out the dessert and everyone one said; WOW, Looks great, what do you call it? I said, I call it Banana split à la Erni.
Everyone said that the dessert was wonderful except for that chewy stuff on the top. You can't win them all !!!
My plan was to send them on the 27th of August, (post stamp would be the proof). However I will be in the mountains on the Stevensons trail that day so I hope I can find a post box. So far we are:

Thanks Katerina that was the post I thought had got lost.So ignore my desperate message, please. Yes! I am going bananas and I am enjoying it so much!!!
Now I can send ZKK to you. Peace at last. No, I'm joking, (Oops! she is here by me) I really really had a great time.
I had a google and found lots of pics of blue bananas Katerina but the best bit of useless information was this:
Some scientist has discovered that yellow bananas are seen blue (due to ultraviolet rays)by certain animals, which apparently makes them keen to eat them and then dispersing the seeds. I will never see a banana again in the same light...
They are the ones I like best, just the normal kind but the ones that still have days to reach yellow. I believe that there are a type that is always green.

Janine Weiss and her Crazy Banana Brick. Imagine if we could build a house with bricks like this one. Well this was a surprise to find at our place. I thought if I put it up to a mirror a magic message would appear.
The brick was left for a few days before I thought to open it and get a good look. More surprises. Not one but two small bottles of "Mythic Oil". I think they are for keeping banana skins soft and yellow.
This really did make us smile, and I expect the mail person too.
And yes they are real dried banana skins. So the oil will come in handy.
Great one Janine, really fun and put together for life. Thisi is one to remember.
For many months, I have been working on a TrashPo Banana piece for Dean. As of today, it is still only half finished, or is it half undone? One can only eat so many bananas at a time, so procuring the coveted Banana Trash has been slow going... And now I see that there is to be a mass mailing on Banana Day! Oh, woe is me! Sign me up Dean! I'll see if I can't steal Banana trash with which to finish your piece by then...
I am so keen to see your piece, months of work on it you say? Lynn I eat a banana a day and cut the peels into little pieces to scatter around the garden they are very rich in potasium. Besides, the snails, a protected species in my garden, love them. Had I known I would have sent them to you.
Oh, Martha! Thanks for thinking of me, but that's not quite the banana trash to which I refer... I do hope to clarify this shortly. Sorry for the confusion. I did find your tidbit to be of great interest though...
I appologize for taking you so literally, Martha. I have found that folks here are usually pretty serious when it comes to their trash, no matter how entertaining the turn of phrase. :D You remind me that I have bananas in the freezer... I dn't suppose that it what's meant by "freeze drying?" (wink and giggle)
Don't apologize Lynn, I get into serious trouble sometimes with my silly sense of fun but you are obviously a good sport. Rest assured, I do not take my trash seriously, and I do not do much serious art either. By the way, on the serious matter of Bananas in Freezers I read sometime ago that if you do freeze them then it is great to eat them, like icecream. When I tried it had turned black and was awful. Do you find them OK?
Wether you manage to do a banana piece for Banana Day or not, I have one ready for you which I will send any way. Do not worry if you cannot respond to me this time.
Martha, it's all in good fun, don't you think? I have never tried eating the frozen bananas... I mash them up for muffins and breads. it is said that the have a stronger flavor once frozen. I'm not so sure. :/
I was thinking that if I could finish Dean's piece, I might send the original to him and send prints to all the rest... On that note, I did add two bits to it this morning. :D Slow and steady... and all that!
If anyone would like to join in, it's not too late. We will all be mailing banana theme Mail art on the 27th of August to as many people as you like on the list.
