BANANAS

AKA Anna Banana Appreciation Band (ABAB)

The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana.  Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!

grandmothers are wise...the rhyme says that they are bent because nobody went back to the jungle to unbent it...but i like your grandmoter explanation better :-)

i love the banana bingo concept, very cool. some of the stickers are beautiful. i collect them too and some of them are quite funny...

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

@ Janine...are those some bite marks on the corner of the picture?

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Great video, I have never seen it before.  But maybe I'm too young for Black & White cartoons!

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

i am a great cartoon fan. the song is from a Broadway revue from the 20s and the video is an animation by Max Fleischer a very inventive american cartoonist from those times and who elaborated a method to produce animation...

age is subjective....age only matters if you are a cheese. ;-)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

My banana bingo was sent long ago...no way can this poor Greek afford transportation to have lunch with Anna Banana,

but will eat a banana in her honor ;-)

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Was it here that we were explainging to Janine who Bob Dylan was?

And Dean mentioned that he , (also like Bifidus Jones, and Grigori Antonin) was born in the same state of the USA as Bob Dylan...who said:

"Oh my name it is nothin'
    My age it means less
    The country I come from
    Is called the Midwest"

    (The State-of-the-Union is Minnesota...of course! ;-)

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

No Angie, it is not a race, everyone has a chance to have lunch with Anna Banana, and help her clean those 2nd floor windows while you are there!  Keep Collecting.

PS I see two apple stickers.  Naughty girl you!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Welcome Alexandre, It will be fun to share our Bananas with you. And great to see someone South of Texas!

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

ready for my bananas b(r)unch with Anna...

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

WOW TICTAC that was fast!  You must be a professional Banana sticker Queen.  I'm impressed as it took me 3 months to hunt down 25 stickers.  I did have 27, but two, yes Angie, two were apples!  We have an expert now so TicTac can be the judge.

PS I'm off to Mont Blanc tonight, back on the 31th, and I'll try to get on a computer Saturday.  You bunch stay Bananas while I'm gone!

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

thanks for the title Dean,  i was probably a monkey in my past life, i seem to remember eating lots of those ecuador reds Angie is talking about back then.

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

lol...i like your tactic Angie. most of the bananas in my superm are sealed inside plastic bags, so the complain i get home is about the random variety i bring back, not all are tasty but the stickers come first! lol

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Oh no, Dean, you'll miss your birthday presents, no go away

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Dean is off to Mont Blanc to celebrate his birthday high up thar!

Well, if no computer, Dean you can always cyber-celebrate when you return.

all your gifts will be on your page...and we will PARTY!

    3 days to Gooooo

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Dean has gone bananas up to Mt. blanc, but I will post some "shred-po that he sent, arrived today in Greece:

Looks like someone went on safari once upon a time?

And, yes, I see no bananas, I see no bananas today

...but Dean's (Artist-in-Siene) tale about the shred:

Dean is quite a "weaver'" and shredder  ;-) xx Thanks!

  • Geneviève Chaussé

Il y a vraiment de quoi devenir ''BANANE'' LOL lol LOL! :-D Hello from Rawdon, Quebec, Canada!!!

  • Ptrzia (TICTAC)

  • Valentine Mark Herman

It's our very own Banana Man's birthday today (28 January). So Happy Birthda, Dean, and I hope that the members of ABAB send you lots of bananas. Bestest, Val

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Happy to say that I recieved today my first Banana piece since starting the group from Janinana (Janine Weiss).  Thank you very much Janine for getting the Bananas off the tree!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

BarnArt in Bananaland, now that should be interesting.  Welcome to the peel world!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Janinana (Janine Weiss) is really peeling them out.  Another Wonderful Banana card.  There is just something about those Swiss pocket spring girls that keep you jumping!  Thank you very much, and keep those bananas coming.

  • prettylily

First Banana card sent out last week.

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Look out for the grapes, prettylily -- they can be realy nasty in a fruit bowl. Regards, Val

PS I hope that you have acquired all the necessary film, serialisation, video, DVD, peel, rights etc for this great work

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Great PrettyLily, that's one down and a bunch to go!

  • cheryl penn

Val, who is wearing your hat? Please don't tell me its you?

  • cheryl penn

O yes - meant to say - I am offering a prize - a banana - to anyone who can guess where my bananas are kept, on account of my  a.m. visitors?

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Hello Cheryl: No, it's not me. It's a young lady I spotted (ha!) outside tha main Post Office at York, England, a couple of weeks ago. Vizma thinks it's me, but I use different coloured eye shadow. Join the Vizz'n'Val Discussion for more loony toons.

  • cheryl penn

I mop my brow in relief :-))))!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Cheryl, I bet you put your banana in the middle of your swimming pool.  Do I win?

  • Nancy Bell Scott

Cheryl, I think you keep your bananas on the chair in your studio so you won't sit down and stop working no matter how many days have gone by.

  • prettylily

My guess is Cheryl like these little guys.  Therefore her home is surrounded with BANANA trees and she is surrounded by monkeys.  It's a monkey party 24/7!

  • cheryl penn

UUURRRGG!! Its going to be SO BORING after all these great answers - but there's not a correct one among them :-)))! I'll give you 12 more hours... and counting....

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

OH NO not there!  Please don't tell us that you keep them in the frig.

  • cheryl penn

THE FRIG!!! :-))) - I'm laughing - NO WAYS - what do you think this is??? Africa??? :-))!

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Here we have Brass Monkey Weather (and so it's obvious where the monkeys keep their bananas). The outside temperature at 21.30 CET is minus 5, and the wind is blowing at 90+ kph, which combine to make a Brass Monkey Temperature of about minus 15.If I had wanted to get my bananas frozen like this then wouldn't have come to live in the South of France. Val

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

frozen bananas? How 'bout with choco and sprinkles on top? Yummy!

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Where does Cheryl keep her bananas...from those ever-lovin' cute and cuddly monkeys? Awwww (they are mail art thieves, watch out!)

In a banana box, of course...like Erni ;-)

  • prettylily

    Delicious Choco Banana, Katerina!  Yummy...

For my next guess, I will say that Cheryl keeps the bananas in her apron pocket.  That way she is ready to reward the monkeys, with a banana snack, any time they exhibit good behaviour.  :-)  Am I right, Cheryl?

  • cheryl penn

Ok - 12 hours is up. Please don't tell them - so far its working :-) X

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

    Baked Bananas!  My favorite!

  • Alexandre Gomes Vilas Boas

  • Mail Art Martha

Once I read that if you put a banana in the freezer it would taste lovely and feel like an  icecream.  Well, do not try this, it is awful.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Erni is in a banana box...but Cheryl's banana are in the oven!

I am sure that those mean monkeys do not get any "rewards"!

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

Sent to Amy Irwen.  My Banana works are slowly peeling their way out to you all.

  • Dean aka Artist in Seine

News Flash: Same Banana family, different slope arrived chez Susan McAllister.  Her mailperson is still in shock.
