The actor John Cleese (Monty Python/Fawlty Towers and others) said:
"True creativity is nipped in the bud by the fear of failure."
Kerri and I reject fear. We are human frankly depressed and illuminated. That's it. I in Europe and the USA. This supports me and console. This is not because we are sad we do not know to laugh more.  -Guido Vermeulen http://mailartinternationale.blogspot.com/2014/08/collaborations-in...
You are forever in my laughing heart Guido.

Very sad news indeed. Guido introduced me to mail art in 1992. I would like to make an artist book in his memory. Let me know if you are interested to contribute (mailworks@skynet.be). I suggest to use the usual Bizarre Cities format: 25 copies per contributor, text and poems very welcome. Send me a mail or contact me through IUOMA. Bernd

So sad news... Unbelievable that we'll have to miss Guido, his paintings, projects, poems, from now on...
He had so many interesting ideas, so much enthusiasm, such a variety of interesting projects.
Hard to have to miss it - although his spirit and works will stay with all of us. Sure all of us will cherish the mail art received from him.

The painting and letter below Guido has sent me in 2011, as a reply to my drawing for his beautiful project, the 12th FRIOUR project: The book of Ann.

A peaceful message. Dank, beste man.

Dear Guido, rest in peace.

Beste Guido, rust in vrede.

Heleen

God's speed Guido, you've left us too soon. Until we meet again in the next world, ciao.

Guido was one of a handful of IUOMA members who initially greeted me into the fold and made feel like part of the family. Our correspondence was something I always looked forward too. A dear, talented man that I will sorely miss.

I am so shocked! I did not even know about his health. His posts here and on FB have been so frequent, often so vital and passionate - emphatic! His spirit was so full of life! Vive!

I just thought of Guido the other day, considering what my next MA to him would be (it's been quite a while as it takes me forever to get through my list)... Guido was one of the first to send me ma when I first joined iuoma a few years ago. A gorgeous painting. He will be sorely missed indeed...
