APPEL ART POSTAL – ART POSTAL, ART EN RÉSISTANCE #4

BLACK FRIDAY IS A JOKE

4. Une exposition sera organisée à Namur fin 2025.

MAIL ART CALL – MAIL ART, ART TO RESIST #4

BLACK FRIDAY IS A JOKE

Every year, Black Friday is a time of unbridled consumerism! Thousands of posters and adverts make our neurons flash to encourage us to buy, buy and buy again!

But are we, as consumers, the only ones responsible for this buying frenzy that pushes us towards products whose usefulness often remains to be proven and whose manufacture is, in the vast majority of cases, toxic for the planet? Or should we question the capitalist system, its polluting means of production and its supply-oriented economic policy which, through the factory of consent that is advertising, encourages us to surround ourselves with things that are far from necessary to our everyday life?

We invite you to use your creativity to think about these questions and come back to us with an artistic response! An answer that will, of course, travel by post!

Mail art, as simple as a letter in the post

1. Take up the theme, transmute it through the alchemical process that is your creativity and illustrate it (free technique : drawing, painting, collage, silk-screen printing, calligraphy, embroidery, etc.)

2. Send us an e-mail with your contact details (last name, first name, postal address and e-mail) to confirm your participation :  laurent.wilmet@afico.be

3. Send the postcard or envelope before September 30 2025 to : AFICo asbl, rue Saint Nicolas 84, B‑5000 Namur, Belgium

Maximum submissions : 2 // Required dimensions : 10x15 cm (4x6 inch)

4. An exhibition will be held in Namur in late 2025.

5 ARGUMENTS
Call for Mail Art Projects

In 2025, Ákos Székely, avant-garde artist, visual poet, a leading figure in Hungarian assemblage, mail art and fluxus, would have turned 80. The aim of this mail art call is to pay tribute to Ákos Székely's life's work and personality.
We are looking for works that reflect on the following theme: 5 arguments.
Ákos Székely considered it important to develop the debating skills and critical thinking of his students. Open debates took place in his classes on all literary and artistic questions. A fundamental rule was that participants had to support their points with 5 arguments.
