What do you use to open your mail art? A 19th century engraved letter opener with a carved inlaid alabaster handle? A dull table knife? An overly excited yet always regretful rip with your hands? Your teeth? Join this group and show IUOMA what you use. (Please join if you use your teeth. I couldn't even find a picture of someone doing that on the internet. I may have subconsciously started this group just because I want to see that.)

Comment by Alan Brignull on March 20, 2023 at 11:39am: I'm glad to know that there are people in the world who care about letter-openers — that there are people who even know what a letter-opener is! My favourite is an old penknife with a bone handle, made in Sheffield and found among my dad's belongings. It has been sharpened so many times over the years that it is beautifully pointy for poking into the flap.

Comment by Franny Wahinehae on March 19, 2023 at 9:17pm: My letter openers are the TrueSteel (TM) steak knives inherited from Grandmom. Pretty funny since we are a vegetarian household. Since Grandmom was my very first penpal, it just seems right. When we went through her effects, we found boxes (and boxes) of kids' art and correspondence from way beyond. I guess you can say it was my very first mail art, actually.
