Dear Amanda Superheroine, he's stamp swapping and suggesting partner swapping, too: beware! Tell him the bar things don't have to be digital, just eye-catching. As to his boast about size, well my theory (from the 4' 6 1/2" I stand from the ground -- with Cuban heels) is the bigger the better. And as to digitals, well keep taking the medicine.
Bon weekend from le mairie.
Val le Croque
Je suis marié. ;-D
but i'll cheat on her with you, val, do not worry.
i love your bar idea, i do digitals lately, so i could offer a high quality print 8.5x11" for them to tack up perhaps. it's very nice to have the ideas flowing!!
my next stop with my french class is trying to encourage them to send me art!
i'll have to think on that.
i already have my professor's daughter interested in making art,
because she likes looking at my homework when i hand it in, so i started adding things for her to do. today i gave her some stamps and one of guido's project lists for calls to send art to!
Qui est Amanda?
Monsieur Croque
Let me share this Free Art idea with you.
I've just had two exhibitions in the bars I hang out in, here in Sigean, France, and Maastricht, Netherlands.
They were called, respectively, '20 collages in 20 days' and 'A postcard a day for a week' (they were very big postcards!)
Both involved me hanging a different work of art in the bar every day (that, of course, also gave me an excuse to go into the bar every day -- not that I really needed an excuse). The bars were quite enthusiastic about having some art there, & it only took up a bit of space on the wall or on a shelf with the bottles. And the regular customers got interested in my works, and awaited the next day's one with interest.
The Art was Free to the bars and the people who went there.
Try it some time?
Regards, Croque Val
i gave out two each to the other students in my french class!
ils amient très bien l'art!
the rest amanda is addressing to various local shops within 180 miles of here.
looks like you're already on top of this! ;-D
i'll let you know what happens with ours.
i guess you're right.
it would be cool if you could say, mail a big envelope full of stuff to walmart and have it get to the employees, but there is no way to know what would happen to them. but if you're sending to a small business you are probably more likely that it will get at least a moment's notice. disturb the daily routine.
small bookshops, local coffee shops, places where people talk abou stuff and don't just run in and out to get their "stuff," but linger a moment.
small local diners too.
