hello michael,
thanks for your background info. and thanks ilya for pointing out this motivation. we should ever focus on the positive and try to not hurt others. in times of digial destruction there is no trust in picel at all. there are even some plugins for screenediting to simulate a burning.
you are free to send mail art and the receiver should be free to do whatever (s)he likes. with no expectations life is smarter and less coleteral damage on the way.
your project sounds nice. you ever heard about my moving mailboxes - project?

michael,
Don't let this incident upset You. Let's try to see this as a prophetic gesture that reminds us of more meaningful values. There is no such person as Sayori Yu. Details can be found in a personal message. Take a look in the inbox.
This guy created a Facebook group (There's the same photo) :
Juan,
My particular form of mail art involves my making fake stamps for various countries, which I put on envelopes and occasionally send to folks in those countries, with the hope that they will put them into mailboxes, get cancelled and delivered to me. In this case the recipient, Sayori Yu, chose to burn the envelopes instead. Folks sometimes object to my imagery but this the first of such a public display of distain.
hi, i do not get that. this is an evelope from Kyrgyzstan to the us... so it looks as it is not a delivered art from us to Kyrgyzstan... so what does it means... maybe more - tragical - as you see for now...
Note to self. No mailart to Sayori Yu. In my humble opinion, this is unacceptable.
Good to know. Don't send Mail Art to Sayori Yu unless you want it reduced to ashes.
I sent a few envelopes to Sayori Yu in Kyrgyzstan hoping that she would place them into mailboxes, instead I discovered how she actually disposed of them- by lighting them on fire and reducing them to ashes. Certainly a dubious choice but one she seems rather proud of. Draw your own conclusions.
