Anybody care to update me as to what's what and how's how? i've never used a site quite like this one before, and all my art trading via mail had a group moderator fielding things, who acted as a central hub focus for the group.

Any suggestions?

For a newcomer this network must be quite a surprise and difficult to absorb.
My responses to you both are in my last comment.

It's difficult to absorb because there are no predetermined rules -- or none that I've come across anyway -- you join, and then you can do almost anything that you like. It's a learning experience for you, and at the same time IUOMA learns from you. This is what makes IUOMA so very special. As the IUOMA community develops, so do you: and vice versa. In my experience, there are very, very few groups -- global or local, virtual or real, artistic or otherwise -- that are able to function in such a positive way.

Gentlemen:

Such thoughtful responses! Yes, it was an absorption difficulty we had encountered in our first week.

Val: If Creative Anarchy is what we have here, I believe we encounter nirvana! :)

Ruud: It can be difficult to get a feel for so widespread and eclectic a gathering as you are assembling here, and one must find one's niche before getting comfortable. But these first wee baby steps have led this art mail enthusiast into fresher waters. It's nice to keep sipping. No gulping is going to get me acclimated. Just a sip at a time for the time being. It's a fun experience, though. One well worth waiting for.

The network is like life itself: full of surprises and it guides you to new paths.....

New adventures in art-making--couldn't be better.
