weekend notes for sept 26 2026
received three items in the mail this week. I'll say more about that in a second but first I have to address something.
attached with this blog post you'll see picture of a sticky note that was stuck on the back of a postcard I received on Thursday. if you dont see the pic, the text on the note is 'mail for this person always needs the c/o matthew carey to be delivered: let others know as well: we have returned mail due to name not on box'
and so I have to say, if you have sent mail to me and have had it returned, I really sincerely apologize for that. hopefully this has not happened to too many of you. if you want to complain to me in private messages, please feel free.
so with that said, let me point at the stuff I got from IUOMA people this week. first is mr. Ficus strangulensis. a nice package of assorted items and a personal note. thank you! then there is this postcard from Cascadia Artpost, which had to be sent twice because it was returned for having a silly artname on it. I do appreciate CA for bothering to send it again. thank you! and then later in the week we got this nice postcard from Jeremiah Paddock, which was the one with the sticky note on it. thank you, Jeremiah Paddock.
all of you are now on my mailing list and you have probably even received a postcard by now. sporadic mailings will continue.
other notes: I have been sending out at least ten cards each weekday since I last posted. among them have been several overseas addresses. daily mailings will continue as long as I can keep it up.
some special additional items are on their way out too. I wont say too much about them except that I think they are kind of interesting, and if you get any of them I hope you find them interesting too.
the copy for the "little green rocks" piece has been written and I am part way done laying that text out into a small booklet to accompany the rocks. also ordered some packaging materials to put it all in. I think by the time these land in the hands of their randomly chosen recipients, this will be one of my more favorite "I did a art" things out of my own hands in 2026.
also, ordered another stack of postcards from MOO. these take forever to get to me once I order them. but at least they are on the way.
also have a new set of hand-painted cards going out. these are from the mixed-media things I have been doing on the inside of Baker's chocolate boxes for these last eight or nine months. hard to explain without being wordy but you can look at the pictures.
final thing for now, I bought a bunch of postcard blanks which is kind of ridiculous of me because I still have a bunch of avery sheets to use. there's a lot of these blanks and I have started to put a couple with some of the things I've been mailing out. I'm sure they will be put to good use.
that just about sums it all up. if you read the whole thing then thank you for your time. if you didnt well then that's fine too.
cheers -z
