I was curious as to what others think makes good mail art?
What sort of things do you love receiving?
Does a unique one-off float your boat? Or are multiple prints just as good, if not better?
Do you dig certain a medium? Will collage always be top dog?

I just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to reply. You've inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things in regards to my own mail art.
People get into the sub-cultures as well such as zines (DIY magazines on all sorts of subjects); visual and concrete poetry and asemic writing; artists books; stamps (huge sub-culture) and more.
Collage probably does rule in terms of frequency. Add & pass (collaborative pieces) are very frequent.
minimalist collages are cool though. they have a sense of design.

I try not to send out slop, but it happens sometimes because the urge to create is there, but no real forethought. I don't like getting sloppy mail art, but I am of course understanding and forgiving. I know how it goes. I don't mind sloppy or crude drawings at all. I love them. I don't like painted cardboard or collages that don't have any meaning...just a space filled with clippings.

Here is a link to a Mail Art show in Pasadena, CA for Judith Hoffberg. Amazing what can be sent through the mail.

Thanks for the link, a really interesting concept. It's pretty crazy that you can send almost anything through the mail.
Here is a link to the collection of Mail Art sent to me by Guido Bondioli.
I also have many of his drawings, paintings and collages.
