What makes good mail art?

I was curious as to what others think makes good mail art?

What sort of things do you love receiving?

Does a unique one-off float your boat? Or are multiple prints just as good, if not better?

Do you dig certain a medium? Will collage always be top dog?

Comment by De Villo Sloan on April 6, 2015 at 9:16pm: People get into the sub-cultures as well such as zines (DIY magazines on all sorts of subjects); visual and concrete poetry and asemic writing; artists books; stamps (huge sub-culture) and more.

Collage probably does rule in terms of frequency. Add & pass (collaborative pieces) are very frequent.

I try not to send out slop, but it happens sometimes because the urge to create is there, but no real forethought. I don't like getting sloppy mail art, but I am of course understanding and forgiving. I know how it goes. I don't mind sloppy or crude drawings at all. I love them. I don't like painted cardboard or collages that don't have any meaning...just a space filled with clippings.
