Thanks Nancy, this was not intended, but I think Marie Wintzer's most recent blog of your work is a perfect companion piece to this blog. DK's blog earlier this week of Cheryl's Trash Book is a also a good reference.
The origins of Trashpo - and I think this is fairly objective - suggest anti-art, a kind of non-aesthetic - the first page maps that out. Your work on Marie's blog and Cheryl's book have very pronounced aesthetic features. This is a new direction, and Trashpo seems evolve almost by the day. So I'm especially glad if my material here can provide any context for your work.
You know, it's funny. Before I posted the blog this morning, I felt I had to contact DK and EXPLAIN. That somehow I needed a DK blessing if I'm going to express an opinion about Trashpo. It's amazing how she is the queen.
This is fantastic--looks and is, I mean. Very rich. Rich history, and we can finally get a grasp on the context/progression. I'll grasp a bit more in next session of spinning my laptop in order to absorb it all. ;--} (Which was necessary form, so no complaint.)
To name one great tidbit of many, I love the little reminder of minimalism in the corner.
Wow, your feedback is much appreciated. I emailed DK this morning. I don't consider this a manifesto myself. This isn't meant to be a last word on Trashpo. I hope it's a look at where it came from and where it is now. For instance, Trashpo ideas did come out of Nevermind's Recycling Mail-art Group at IUOMA. DK had this split with Rain Rein over Roadkill. There's so much history already, it's amazing.
On mail-art mandalas: Aren't they really effective for expressing things? I got lucky finding a cereal box mandala. And I was influenced by Dark wall's meat platter mandala.
Yes, you are a honey bunches indeed. Thanks again for your comments on a somewhat strange piece.
JOB...great JOB!
(spell chick away for the weekend)
Yay! We have a Trashpo "manifesto"...love the Honey Bunches!!
We are pretty crispy! 'Hope not too flakey ;-)
Great jod, sloan...you are a manifesto-god!
