My latest Exhibition -- jointly with the Copenhagen portrait photographer, Henrik Bronsted, under the name Den Danglish Duo -- "Samantha's Polaroids" opened at le Maison de l'Artisan in Sigean last week.
It features 13 large photos of Samantha and about 20 different Polaroid cameras.
There was supposed to be 13 original Polaroid-size photos of Samantha, but unfortunately they got left behind in Denmark.
Here's Samantha, the Polaroids and some photos from the opening night vernissage.
*************
And then we come to the vernissage...featuring a Special Guest Appearance from...drum-roll... Samantha!
And then .... I think that these sorts of things can only happen to me.... one of the local teenagers decided to make her Very Own Special Guest Appearance, wearing a bikini (it was very hot that night). "Will you take some photos of me with your fancy cameras?" "Alas, no. The cameras don't work". "Can my friends come to your party?" "It's not a party, it's a vernissage". "Can they come anyway?" "It depends. If I say 'yes', about how many are going to come?" "Probably 20 or so". "Then no they can't come, because there isn't enough for them to drink".
(Samantha is looking very apprehensive fearing that her glory is about to be stolen: don't worry Sam, it's not!)
And then we come to the Ebony and Ivory moment. 'Ebony' is the Lady Behind My Mask Photos, a well-known, but unnamed here Franco-Spanish artist and dancer. 'Ivory' is Agnes, the Assistant Mayor of Sigean, responsible for Culture, Patrimonie, Education, and Letting Val Hold Many Exhibitiuons at Different Locations in Sigean.
NB 2 big smiles, some painted toe-nails, and one empty cup.
Last, the real star of the show, Anoushka!
The Exhibition continues until 16 July: DO COME!
(Wearing a bikini if you like)
Comment
Erni, you should now by know that I am too shy to even think of, let alone, propose such a Dropping event.
However, and with the greatest pleasure, I will leave the organisation of the whole thing to you.
(I'll send her phone number to your non-IUOMA email address).
Good luck/bon chance!
MomKaterina: all the gang's in town -- except fpr ypu! -- and I'll pass on your good wishes.
Hi Erni! They don't have finissages here in France. I don't know why that's so.
If you'd like to come to the to-be-arranged finissage you can put on any weird event that you like.
Be my guest!
Val
