RECEIVED: Rabbit Symbol & Asemic Mail-Art from Helder Coelho Dias (Coruche, Portugal)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Helder Coelho Dias (Coruche, Portugal)

April 20, 2011 - Portugal is producing some interesting visual poetry and asemics these days, thanks to the efforts of Eduardo Cardoso, Bruno Neiva, and Helder Coelho Dias. There are certainly others too. I received this really nice card (above) that showcases Helder's colorful and distinctive artwork as well as some asemic symbols. This is yet another example of the excellent work that is produced when collage meets asemic writing. It's The Year of the Rabbit, and Helder has been circulating a symbol that is shown on the reverse side below:

The work above was included in an excellent, mail-art envelope, only for the longest time I thought is was from Marie Wintzer (Japan):

Helder Coelho Dias has a blog where you can see more of his work and work by IOUMA members Laurence (UK), Helen Amyes (Australia), and Diane Keys (USA) as well as many others:

Thank you for the mail-art Helder!

Hi DK, Helder is a very talented artist. I think he started a painting and drawing group here. I'm pleased he put some asemics in this piece.

This is so beautiful. Helder is really dialed in to something because he seems to keep creating these amazing organic pieces effortlessly. I feel like each piece of his builds on each other more like glimpses of a mural.
