Received: Correspondence School Mail-Art from David Stafford (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA)

Mail-art by IUOMA member David Stafford (Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA)

December 26, 2010 - David Stafford's first round of mail-art to me was this kind letter on a Venetian placemat, although you would never know it was unless he told you. My response was to immediately think of Ray Johnson's New York Correspondence School and how letters are such a part of mail-art. Here is a closer-in shot of David Stafford's letter:

Here is the response I am sending David after I find more things to put in the envelope:

And there's more:

So far I have found one of these electric socket things to send to David:

David Stafford can interpret this or do anything he wants with it. Sending him this satisfies a pressing need for me to (1) produce some Haptic Poetry to keep up with pioneers such as Bifidus Jones (Minnesota, USA) and Katerina Nikoltsou (Greece). Marie Wintzer (Japan) is currently pushing ahead with her astounding work with mail-art holes. Having participated in the recent (W)Holy War, I feel a need to contribute in this area too. David's adeptness or natural talent for mail-art is revealed in his envelope that proved to be a bit difficult to open:

Thanks, David. I appreciate your friendship, your excellent sense of humor, and your wit

Luckily, I am not obese, mormor, nor a scrapbooker.  Though I am a bit morbid from time to time...so David is in good company...
