Received: Agitprop mailart from Grigori Antonin (Minnesota, USA)

ANIMALS AGAINST ANTONISM

September 7, 2010: Grigori Antonin of Minneapolis, Minnesota sent me mailart in the last several weeks that I am just catching up with now. I've made a pact with myself, in the spirit of the IUOMA, that I'll post all mail art from members I receive. Perhaps agitprop is not the most accurate category for what follows. This might be better categorized as social realism. Adopting this mail art ideology, to the exclusion and peril of all seeking unfettered self expression, is the ultimate conclusion of the dialectic of Antonism, now in decline (Antonarchy) and denounced by its once most ardent original supporters (above) after the now infamous "Monkey Purge":

Antonism: Opiate of the Asses

This is, indeed, a cautionary tale to others. As he prepared to flee, his empire in shambles, the only received wisdom he could leave a handful of disillusioned followers that remained: "Let them eat mail art."

"The low spark of high-heeled boys."

Excerpts from Rhetoric of Antonism - "The means justifies the end"

GA: Keira's artfully composed photograph of the interior of the famous Šlóáň rozhledna (Sloan Tower) at No. 1 Ďé Vílló Šlóáň náměstí(1 De Villo Sloan Square) in Prague, Czech Republic. The tower, which features prominently (albeit disguised as "the castle") in the works of Kafka, is the spiritual though not administrative headquarters of Sloanism.
My mother and father were ethnic Russians who were raised in Prague in the 1920s and 30s after a bit of a ruckus they relocated to, oddlynenough, the administrative and operational "nerve center" of
Sloanism, Minneapolis. It is a small world after all."

DVS:I suppose a fake AP story saying he was a fugitive from the law might have bordered on libel, definitely malicious intent. The post did have an important message for mail artists: The Grigori Antonism "Cult Kits" are taped black plastic bags with a tag attached that says "Eat Me." Who would ever believe somebody would do it when they saw what was inside? It's OK - she's already been released from the hospital and is doing well. As I've posted on other blogs, don't open the bag and mail it back to the address on the envelope.

If the "operational 'nerve center' of Sloanism" is Minneapolis, what does that make Auburn, NY?
