Mail-art by IUOMA member Rebecca Guyver (Suffolk, UK)
(February 22, 2014 - I just had to share this remarkable entry in the MinXus-Lynxus Who Has The Best Hair Contest mail-art call with IUOMA friends. Rebecca Guyver is Contestant #1, but she has come back with this remarkable second entry, which places her in the lead in the wig category (hers is the only entry in that category thus far). This should also work in the Blondes Have More Puns category as well as the Best Copyright Violation category.
With entries from Dan Mouer, Vizma Bruns, Borderline Grafix, Alicia Starr/Ray Johnson, Candy Wicked and Fanny Slayer from the Naughty List Bitches, Karen Eliot and others the competition is becoming fierce. New entries arrive via post and email each day. I do not envy Empress Marie in her role as judge.
Thank you Rebecca!
Comment
Thanks, David - your sanguine yet probingly insightful commentary fills a void.
Carina, I admit to eagerly looking for your entry in my po box, only to have my hopes dashed so far. There has been some speculation behind the scenes that you could handily walk away with many of the AMAZING prizes.
Some keen observers, scrolling through MinXus-Lynxus posts, note a certain partiality to redheads among the various posters and those who submit work. Chance operations? Is the Empress herself biased? She has sworn to be impartial.
Regardless, the redheads must be represented!
Lol, this is great! Only the envelope is enough to soften anyone (Empress Marie?). Rebecca has a flow I never seen before. I'm worried about how modest my contribution will look like :)
How I could have missed this mail call I don't know. Rebecca, your cup overfloweth....Clearly, a chord has been struck. The thematic follow-through is admirable which begs the question: How do you keep your whig wham? I guess it really didn't beg that question but it's always fun to say that it did. I particularly like the force fed Hemingway pic which is strangely sad inside glitter man's brain. That's his wife Mary with the spoon. The same Mary that found his headless body. (Use voice of Boris Karloff here). Anyway, Rebecca, I received your banana book and am similarly impressed and inspired by your boekie. I'm working on your banana thing as I type though the two events are not strictly co-existent. Which is why I must fly....Great work.
You are determined, Rebecca! I did not comment on the brilliance of the wigwam theme & other features, as we don't want you disqualified. (You're a shoe-in for Best Copyright Violation.)
But wait for the redheads!
Thanks - as ever.
Thanks DVS! It looks better than I remembered. Another (very different) one coming!
