New book by John Held Jr. (2 Parts) - USA

Part – 1 (page 1-439)  and Part -2 (page 440-919) of the book “Where the Secret is Hidden” , Collected Essays, 1979-2011 containing 106 essays written over 30 years on the 20th Century cultural avant-garde including Duchamp, Cage, Mail Art, Fluxus, BiY, zine and artist publishing, international cultural networking, performance art, rubber stamps and other artistic mediums the mainstream considers marginal. Each essay is illustrated with the publication in which it first appeared or an associated item. (see: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/iuoma for more details of both parts)

Above is part 2, below is part 1. The CD is also available (see elsewhere on this IUOMA network). The total of pages of 919 was too much for one single book, so it is published hardcopy as a set of two books.

The books can be ordered through: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/iuoma

I have a similar book  with 250 pages in colour and that costs 55 euros. So I guess with 440 pages it will come to about 100 euros. A bit expensive for anybody since the most of the pages is just black & white.

What would a color version cost? Good suggestion about ordering both parts at once...

Thanks for keeping us informed!

Someone already ordered Part-1.  Not sure who did that, but somewhere soon there will be the first half of the essays on a bookshelve. Always a fscinating moment. I will order a few sets myself too, and just want to have it here in the TAM-Archive too. I could also publish a coloured version, but I am not sure if people would be able to afford an expensive set like that.

I suggest people to order both copies in one order. Saves them extra postage on the sending, and they have the complete 920 pages to read!

I also like paper best. We do hope the printed versions will make it into archives a museums. It was a pleasure to produce the PDF-it is about something I believe in and should be available in as many forms as possible.

All the best,

Mike

I have read a lot of the essays before. Will read the complete set when I have them printed in paper. That works best for me. I am not the reader of screens......

I hope some of the printed versions end up in archives and museums. That paper lasts longer that the bits and bytes.

Thanks for making the information available Mike!
