KDJ Trashpo tribute by Rebecca Guyver (Suffolk, UK)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Rebecca Guyver (Suffolk, UK)

December 15, 2013 - Among her many gifts, Rebecca Guyver is an acclaimed trash poet who has garnered several TrashPo Litzer prizes. I am honored to be the recipient of Rebecca's homage to Trashpo legend KDJ.

This piece arrived before the release of KDJ's Panama diaries in the most recent DKULTNY Trashpo Fanzine, so Rebecca must have had other reasons for remembering KDJ. This work was made using several Trashpo innovations that Rebecca has pioneered: the trashquilt and plasticized trash. Here is the reverse side of the postcard-size piece:

Head-banging Trashpo & DKult fanatic that I am, I see this as an historic piece. I am thrilled to add it to my Trashpo collection. As ever, many thanks to Rebecca Guyver!

Dan, "phenom" is the word. KDJ is on her way to becoming a mail-art legend. I am perplexed too. Beyond all the hype, she is a genuinely nice person. As I have suggested before, maybe it is because she has chosen to watch the circus from afar rather than be just another sideshow freak. Yet the void she creates fills with trash.

Rebecca, I think you achieve great textures and tons with this one. Thanks for the background on the cerealism. I do hereby nominate this for a TrashPo Litz Sur-prise!

(Swapping barf with KDJ, what?)

Hey thanks DVS, This piece is also one of more recent forays into cerealism. I am hooked on this cereal that has a 'window' (or hole) in it packaging and this is one of those. I believe this may be part of the 're-fused' series that I forgot to stamp!

Dan, although I read the fanzine avidly, I must admit to only very partial understanding of th KDJ phenomena. I sometimes find that making while contemplating - maybe it's getting in touch with the intuitive, conjuring, something like that. In this case I may have been one the right track as this has a Panama feel, don't you think?

Interestingly, I got to swap BARFA with KDJ so perhaps I will gleen more soon. Undoubtedly my gift will be seen as self-indulgent and probably not the point so may get something equally unhelpful in our quest for understanding...

Sincethe KDJ phenom is totally beyond my ken, I may not fully or properly comprehend all the iconic subtlety in the magery, but it sure is a cool-as-shit bit of mail art. You rock, Rebecca! DVS...YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED!
