From: Samantha Price (0202-1119 & 0056-0320)

Samantha "Sam" Price, a member of the IUOMA-ning family since 2017, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020. Due to a host of health problems, Sam was completely bedridden and hadn't left her bed for over three years.

Mail Artist Sam Price (Nashua, NH) had a wonderful sense of humor.

Sam had a wonderful sense of humor. The above screen capture (from her IUOMA profile page) clearly shows what a fun loving gal she was.

As a result of her illness, Sam's world was reduced to a 10 x 10 inch space on her bed. As she said in her IUOMA profile, it's "the same space I eat, sleep & cuddle with my cat on." Mail art afforded Sam the opportunity to communicate with people from around the globe, and thus expanded her world. I'm fortunate to have been one of those folks to correspond with her.

Incoming mail art from Samatha Price (Nashua, NH) received 11-01-19.

The envelope ('lope' as Sam called it) is adorned with autumnal art.

Sam Price and I had only started corresponding in late October 2019. I made the initial contact by sending her a friend request on IUOMA. Shortly after, Sam sent a private message. That got the ball rolling.

"Silly Scatology Part 1" postcard from Sam Price.

The first mail I received from Sam Price comes in an envelope adorned with autumnal art. Inside is a copy of a postcard she had sent a few years prior. The postcard, entitled "Silly Scatology Part 1," clearly shows Sam's wonderful sense of humor. Even the handwritten note on back makes me chuckle.

Cardstock used to stabilize the envelope. Instead of recycling, I decided to keep it.

The second and last correspondence from Samatha Price (Nashua, NH).

In late March, a couple of weeks before her passing, I received a postcard from Sam. The card features a vintage ice crushing machine on front. On back, in large blue letters, "ICE ICE BABY" is written. The postage stamp, featuring ice cream cones, is a nice tie-in. Yet another example of Sam's humor and wit.

Samantha and her mail art will be greatly missed in the Eternal Network, but surely her playful spirit will move the souls of others in the Eternal ever after. RIP, Sam.

such a great tribute to her. i'd only gotten one or maybe two things from her before she passed. i'm not even sure she saw the last thing i sent her before she passed. such a sad loss. i'm glad people are paying tribute to her so she's not forgotten.
