Mail-art by IUOMA member Jon Foster (Winston-Salem, North Caroline, USA)
May 27, 2014 - Intrepid correspondent Jon Foster in North Carolina sent me this wonderful example of his ripped-tape collage work: Many thanks! I am always happy to receive work from Jon. The romantic theme of this postcard-size mail-art fits well in the wake of the MinXus-Lynxus Who Has the Best Hair Contest and my fav current mail-art call: Bad Romance, sponsored by the Museum of Bad Mail-Art (MOBMA) at the IUOMA and coordinated by Rebecca Guyver (Suffolk, UK).
You can learn more about the Bad Romance mail-art call by scrolling through the always fascinating posts at the Museum of Bad Mail-Art:

I wish I could believe that art has the power to heal this wreckage of broken hearts.
Maybe the art wins?
Thanks for the info, Rebecca. Only there are no winners in a bad romance.
Sounds contentious, I mean a contender... there is really no protocol with bad mail art. I think at first we mailed to anyone in the group and they posted but then people realised the winners came from pieces the judges received. A few of the judges even take bribes, I'm told. I will be delighted to take the submission, but if you decide to send elsewhere or simply post you won't be ruled out as a potential winner, probably. The winners are invited to judge the subsequent call which they design - ordered chaos with lots of potential for corruption - my kind of call!
Really not a plug Rebecca - the Bad Romance mail-art call is such a great concept. I wish M-L could have done it, but I think we'll have to go with the Diane Keys Look-A-Like Contest.
Tell me. Do we mail Bad Romance submissions to you or post them at MOBMA?
Dark wall is preparing "Why Indie Anna Road Rage & Joan of Alsace spit at the thought of me: A Memoir." But where to send?
Great work and thanks for the shout out DVS! I have made sure to post the latest entries at MOBMA now!
