Diverse Mail Art Collection by Ruud Janssen (Breda, Netherlands)

Mail art by IUOMA founder Ruud Janssen (Breda, Netherlands)

October 28, 2015 - Receiving mail from Ruud Janssen is always an occasion, and the missive blogged today is no exception. The envelope contained a diverse array of stamps, vispo and other art work. I begin with one of Ruud Janssen’s stamp collection sheets that are recognizable to many networkers. You can see both the classic Fluxus and DKULTN stamps. Here is the reverse side:

A central attraction of the mailing is a colorful poster. Unfortunately, the work is so large I do not have the capability of presenting the image in one piece. At least you can get a sense of it. The written messages are very interesting::

As the work above indicates, Ruud Janssen has been producing image-text as well as asemic work lately. Included in this mailing is a very interesting experimental work:

Some smaller pieces on cards (a kind of ATC?) as well. Keep in mind the cards are much smaller than other pieces documented in this blog:

Ruud Janssen is widely known for his hand-painted envelopes. I am thrilled to add another to the collection:

As ever, deepest thanks to Ruud Janssen for a superb mail art package!

Thanks, Ruud. I have a very good collection of your current stamps. I have some sheets from a few years ago w/things like earlier Fluxus stamps, a Litsa Spathi personal stamp, etc. I just don't want you to feel obligated or limited to those things. Thanks again. I am grateful for anything you happen to be working on at any given time.

Hi De Villo Sloan,

I can always print a special sheet with the stamps I have in the TAM Rubber Stamparchive and send it to you for keeps....

with best wishes,

Ruud Janssen

Thank you, Ruud. The day couldn't have started better than reading the Miss Noma IUOMA poll. How to vote is another matter.

I plan to pass the stamp sheet along to someone who makes DKult and/or Trashpo stamps. Rebecca Guyver is possible. Maybe Lucky Pierre. Some months ago I sent you what I use for DKULTNY stamps. I am about to make a new one, which I plan to include.

It is hard to part with those stamp sheets for me. I can make a copy, though.

Thanks again.

you're welcome.

Will the rubberstamp sheet be passed on, added to, or eventually returned? That is always the BIG question.  Did you see the POLL on Miss Norma on the main page?
