Cheryl suggested I post this photo somewhere after seeing it, so this is a quick blog entry. I took it last year at Yanaka cemetery, the largest cemetery in Tokyo. It was cherry blossom time, and the strong warm wind turned all the petals into a light cherry blossom storm. Real magic. I forgot to mention, but people are having picnics (alcohol included) under the trees, even in cemeteries. This might sound weird and inappropriate at first, but once you see it it all feels very natural and comfortable, there is no sign of disrespect whatsoever, only a sense of peace. Can't wait till next year!

Picnics in cemeteries, definitely. People are dying to do it.

Thank you my genki people. I wish you could have seen it. I was still walking in a dream several days after.

They say it "snows" cherry blossoms in Japan each Spring. Your photo, Marie, is magical! So gentle and peaceful! Thanks for sharing.
