After a long period of inactivity and wondering whether I'll ever get anything started again, today I made some mail art. I feel good. And that's saying something!

The last year has been pretty traumatic; a period of time when lots of things happened and forced dramatic changes to me and my family, all in fairly close succession, without any time for reflection or adjustment or acceptance. Some of these things created a chain reaction too, where several smaller issues escalated and have eventually made a huge difference to my life. All this has taken its toll upon my health and had me spend some long months adrift on a 'dark ocean.'

I have been slowly drifting towards the shores though, and although I have found it very difficult to maintain my motivation and enthusiasm, I have begun to feel some excitement about the creative process again.

During this time, I have received a number of what I can now call 'postal medicine' that have managed to make me smile and remind me that mail art can have a really positive effect - not just for the receiver, but also for the sender too.

I will be posting next week for the first time this year. It feels good to be back.

Christopher, just catching up not only on posting blogs but on reading blog posts, and came across this one from you (less than 24 hours after blogging a very wonderful boekie I received from you a few months ago). I'm glad to see you're back, and hope the dark ocean is starting to let loose with its reflected sparkles here and there. I know that place, as no doubt do many others. Welcome back --

Wow, this is an inspiring blog, and one I'm so glad I read. Just recently I sent Jon Foster some work for his Mail Art zine, with the comment, "Mail Art Heals" and I think it's proving to be true. All the best, Christopher on your road to recovery.
