From John Bennett Part 1

The wonderful John Bennett sent me a letter with three wonderful pieces of haptic poetry. Honestly, I am very honored to have these in my possession. What an artist! He blows my mind when he warps and distorts letters, words, and ink.…

American Spirit! Der Haptic Werewolf STRIKES Again!

This afternoon, my postal carrier pulled into the driveway, honking wildly! I was certain she brought the package from Germany for which I'd been waiting. I took the stairs two at a time... Imagine my confusion when she waved an envelope at me! Ah... Not to worry! This piece came from our favorite…

B side Erni - The haptic werewolf strikes again

Yes, a B side of Erni ready for the battle of the Bar codes.  What I really like the most about this piece is that the support is made from beer packaging with an original bar code.  A sign of the times for his Fan Club.  Thank you for the support you have given me.…

Fireworks from Torma Cauli

Who knew one could do such wonders with rolled-up paper? This is a very creative card from Torma Cauli. I love the way he worked with picture and paper to create a three dimensional story (including the envelope). Great card, thank you Torma!…

Received from Dean Marks: a haptic Newman da Leonardo

Newman is an apt name here, because Dean has created a new man: Oh yes. And he did so not only by pasting Paul Newman's popcorn-package face on as the head, but also by cutting out individual popcorns from the package and using them for haptic happy pieces of popcorn in Leonardo da Vinci's (new) man's four hands as well as a fig leaf for the guy's "privates." It's about time,…

The Haptic Werewolf Strikes Again

Starting with this special favorite:

Who doesn't need fake binoculars? You wait for them your whole life, but they rarely show up. In that package Erni also included a "moving sculpture," which can be seen in these instructional photos he sent with it: …

Stick Shift Poetry - from Bifidus Jones

I've been longing for an envelope from Bifidus for quite a while, but this one was well worth the wait. I am so completely impressed by this piece (including the hilarious envelope). A stroke of genius crafted with such talent I can barely keep my eyes off it.…

Overlapping (paper/thread/space) - from Cheryl Penn

Most Days happen just like that. Most days are just Blanks and Fragments of Days, proportions variable.

What happens in the Zalop Space inbetween? Is life happening in bursts of Time?

Blanks - Maybe just…

Rare choco mail - from Katerina Nikoltsou

New developments in Haptic World. I am honored to get this rare piece of choco glam from Katerina, number 212 of her project 365. I think this greek chocolate is way too rare to be eaten :-)) and it looks great on the card, so I think I shouldn't be too greedy this time.

Pencil shavings, what a fab idea, Katerina. It must be hell to get them glued on the card though...…

Spirit of Place - from Helen Amyes

Helen's handmade paper envelope with stitches all around was so beautiful, I first thought that this was it, it wasn't meant to be opened. The Spirit of Place stamp on the thick paper with dried leaves could easily pull it off as a piece on its own. I almost missed the snip, snip, snip instructions. I almost missed the little sandpaper booklet! A precious haptic booklet with…

Un saut dans le vide / prière haptique - from Bifidus Jones

This blog post has no immediate effect on your health.

If I hear or read " X or Y has no immediate effect on your health" one more time my head will explode. Seriously. With immediate and irrevocable effects on health.

OK, enough ranting :-))

This is the last card I got before the earthquake and didn't have time to blog. Bifidus's cards are always a perfect blend of humor and aesthetics, I haven't seen a work by him that wasn't special. This one is no exception…

Under the needle... - From Lauriana Glenny

I'm so happy Lauriana included me in her mailing list for this series of her, her work is just amazing.

The envelope is so original, it looks like vintage leather. It was also very tightly sewn closed, I had a lot of fun opening it with my mini scissors :-)…

Fluxus Bucks and Haptic/Asem(en)ic poem à la sauce Grigstaire - from Grigori Antonin

This week I got a bit richer. Grigori sent me these very colorful Fluxus Bucks. I had to check out what they actually are, and found a whole world of arty bucks. As you probably know there is a group dedicated to them on IUOMA and hosted by Ruud Janssen, check it out here. These seem to be from Julie Jefferies aka. ex posto facto, miss Fluxus Bucks herself. A couple of them seem pretty "done", I might send them back to…

Sugar for my mule (braille card) - from Bifidus Jones

I can't believe I nearly missed the braille script on Bifidus's postcard. I was looking at it for several days without noticing anything. I even read Karen Champlin's blog post about a braille card she got from Bifidus, but it only struck me now. I don't know if you can see it, it is very subtly haptic and maybe only meant to be explored by fingers. And since this is Bifidus he placed it on a sea of wavelets for an even stronger… Continue

Multi sensory booklet - from Katerina Nikoltsou

My very first mail from Greece arrived the other day. And it smelled wonderful...

I remember reading a comment on Bifidus's haptic group where Katerina was wondering if haptic art was restricted to the sense of touch. I think the general answer was a sort of a "yes but no" type of answer, after which Katerina came up with this booklet where she cleverly combined multi sensory goodies. After going… Continue
