"First Day of Issue" special from Bifidus Jones

The Eugene O'Neill stamp+envelope from October 16,1967! What a beaut Bifidus sent me, and notice that he included quite an education. I learned numerous things about O'Neill that I'd been sorely ignorant of until now:  …

The Purgatorio - a rare Bifidus Jones

Bifidus has not been around for ages and I miss him, so I begged him to send me something. He very kindly granted my wish. I've been wondering where he could possibly have gone, and I hope this is not him sending me the answer from purgatory! So I would like to see this piece as a reference to Dante's Purgatorio instead, with Bifidus finding himself somewhere…

Puzzle Cards - from Bifidus Jones

I must be on one of Bifidus' good lists, because he sends me three times a wonder. Three cards that arrived over two days, and that, when put together, reveal a majestic (if bloodcurdling) creature. Partly human, partly animal, he just beheaded a man. Bifidus used his signature maps, adding thick rivers of text to it. The back of the cards too is layered to…

Stick Shift Poetry - from Bifidus Jones

I've been longing for an envelope from Bifidus for quite a while, but this one was well worth the wait. I am so completely impressed by this piece (including the hilarious envelope). A stroke of genius crafted with such talent I can barely keep my eyes off it.…

Un saut dans le vide / prière haptique - from Bifidus Jones

This blog post has no immediate effect on your health.

If I hear or read " X or Y has no immediate effect on your health" one more time my head will explode. Seriously. With immediate and irrevocable effects on health.

OK, enough ranting :-))

This is the last card I got before the earthquake and didn't have time to blog. Bifidus's cards are always a perfect blend of humor and aesthetics, I haven't seen a work by him that wasn't special. This one is no exception…

Sugar for my mule (braille card) - from Bifidus Jones

I can't believe I nearly missed the braille script on Bifidus's postcard. I was looking at it for several days without noticing anything. I even read Karen Champlin's blog post about a braille card she got from Bifidus, but it only struck me now. I don't know if you can see it, it is very subtly haptic and maybe only meant to be explored by fingers. And since this is Bifidus he placed it on a sea of wavelets for an even stronger… Continue

The Crimson Giant and the Tower of Babel - Bifidus Jones

Cheryl's Giant being stuck somewhere between South Africa and Japan, this is the first page of the book that made it to my mail box. It must have been a very bumpy ride, because the envelope was badly torn apart (and not by a chocolate addict fluxus dog). With apologies from US postal service. That's too bad, I really liked the newspaper envelope, Bifidus.

This is great work as usual, I… Continue

Bifidus' Anatomy of Doubt - from Bifidus Jones

Super happy to get this card from Bifidus. His work is so multi-dimensional, layered, focused and... it looks damn good. Amazing details all over.

My soul, myself,

my faculties. I'm sure

My guts, by brains,

My senses, who am I?

I am me, with my body/in my body/because of my body, standing right here on this map. I can feel, smell, hear, talk, think. I can hear my belly calling lunch time.… Continue
