I put these up on my page before, but not in the context of the blog, so I am putting them here now with a big Thank You again to the early birds! Super thanks to Angie and Snooky who put the word out for me about the k-5 Mail art Project. Without her help, I don't know if anyone would have seen my yulp. Thank you, Angie!

Junanne's cards were some of the first to arrive before I figured out this blog element was on the site, so I just put the pics on my page. I'll get the early pieces up onto the blog hopefully tonight, but I've got this one in hand now-paint splashes by fifth graders. I saw the longing in the children's eyes from this side. How fun! Thank you, Junanne! Thank you again!

A shrouded chalice texture poem from Borderline Grafix. It really feels great and there is a Beetle and sleeping cat on the reverse. The card is from the Musee Suisse in Zurich. Fascinating, Borderline Grafix-Thank you!

On reverse, "Family Portrait, 1976-79. Mixed Media, Life size.
Left to Right: Little Debbie, Grandma, Kitty, Dad and Mom, Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima and Baby Ruth. Portrait by Richard C. Photograph Courtesy of Mississippi Museum of Art" and, my friends, it was signed by Baby Ruth herself-and Richard! Thank you both! Kids got the joke right off-and made me somehow nostalgic of my Southern roots. I need to go get a tablespoon o' molasses-excuse me. . . …

This piece came all by itself this week-and is somewhat mysterious! We've enjoyed puzzling about these stickers from Spain---Are they a part of a map? If so, is this a real place or imagined? And how should we use the stickers? Such mystery and beauty-So lovely to wonder about! Thank you,…

Again, so much to show on a little card! First off, the kids dig fish-and really dig fish puns, so the O-Fish-L Mail Art stamp was a hit-as was the artistamp-non cents for currency on puffy fish artistamp-Terrific! And then there is the other side-the atmosphere of envelope liner bubbles-fabulousness, again, from humble materials! I love your mark, too, Adamandia! Thank you for a really fine example!…

A lesson in hand lettering and laying stamps and prints from Leslie. I love the use of the gelli print on cereal box-is it a gelatine print? Anyway, great texture! And the lettering is a great example of possibilities with drawing letters as content/design element. The kids (including my son) are really keen on seeing what letters can do when they are allowed free reign with them! Thank you, Leslie! …

Claudia, I am so in love with this piece. It has so many good ideas in a charming little story-uch humble materials into magic. A great lesson that you don't need fancy art supplies to make art that lives and breathes. The children (and the teachers) really loved this. Thank you for this beautiful work, Claudia! I'll let you know if we put a show up!…

Where do I begin? OK-Cowboy mail art-beautiful watercolor out West-with Woody, no less (big hit with the the kids-a shock of recognition-on a stamp!) Writing that looks like a comic book writer's-awesome! His own cancellation-where to begin on that. . . wow and wow! Even his own Canada Goose uh-chop, would you call it? On top of that, he wrote an incredibly useful turn of phrase for the classroom: (if I may, Bill?) "And remember, always do your best, because art is a reflection of you. Like…

Somebody knows kids. It is funny how Minnie Mouse, Paperdolls, Butterflies, Pups and Cats can be counted on like the Pied Piper's spells. Mary's Envelope brought yells for Minnie, enthusiasm for the paperdolls and awwwwws for the pets. Right on, Mary. Right on. Thank you from us al!…

I am uploading the amazing submissions we've been receiving sort of catch as catch can. Mail Art Martha's envelope was full of trasures from Retalia inside and out! The "Marths" got a lot of laughs and, by popular request and permission from Martha the First, we will be sending the kids home a copy of her cut and assemble Shopping Trolly Gallery with a nice packet of mail art materials to bring home. (Included in this are bloomin' handfulls of artistamps from Olathe Poste-but more on that…
