That is awesome and excellent background research, Kat!  And the photo of the original *does* look like a cat to me, too!  It is no wonder, as cats ARE sacred beings, after all...

"...The faience figurine identified as "Snake Goddess" was discovered in 1903 by Arthur Evans in the "Temple Repositories" of the Knossos palace in the island of Crete in Greece  and date to the neo-palatial period of Minoan civilization, ca. 1700–1450 BCE. It is exhibited in Heraklion Archaeological Museum in Crete, Greece."

The Snake Goddess of Crete rubber stamp now belongs to Vizma, and she noticed the tiny cat-on-the-head, too! There is some debate among archaeologists if the "crown and cat" really belong on this goddess' head as Evans discovered it in separate pieces and just "added" it. I say it is a real snake-cat goddess :-)

Picasso had his "blue period," and Katerina had her "yellow period!"  I like it!

I don't think I ever noticed before that the Minoan goddess had a cat on her head (!) I wonder what he thinks about her snakes??
