These close-ups are a whole new look at the thing, Oliver--amazing, really. Thank you! This won't be the last time I study what you've revealed.

The circles. Very nice.

This is a closeup view of the piece where the orange line comes down in the middle of the newspaper. I really like the deep transparent glaze with the lines at the bottom of the depression.

This is a closeup of the right hand side of the piece in between the two darker pieces.

Here's a closeup of the lower left corner. One can see the damage done to the map, which is a topographic map that is made of material that is weather resistant.

Thanks, Oliver. Thom, the map was found on the street and had been walked on, driven over, whatever. It looks like paper (and paper mache!) but I think has some kind of plastic (very thin and very flexible) coating on it. It's a bit discolored from its time in the elements. The central part looks like encaustic because that's exactly what I was hoping to achieve by playing around with acrylic transfer layers plus paint. Good eye!

SO curious about the texture here!  The white map inner "frame" almost looks like papier maché, and the center looks almost like encaustic.
