I love handmade cards, letters, snail mail in general, plus trading art via mail. The immediacy of art in hand makes our virtual world pale by comparison. I believe in handmade as a rule, even when I like using PSE for generating more fun online. (Okay, so some of what I do here came digitally. I like to add touches anyhow) And I've been meaning to check into this type of group for a long time. Happily, I saw the link over at Little Cricket Art Shack!
My Mail-Adress (snail and/or E-mail)
We are in the process of reassessing our positions as team here.
Please forgive the radio silence.
And to anyone who previously sent mail-art in my direction after first introducing yourselves, you have my thanks. I will do my utmost to send out your replies ASAP.
This is hard to believe, Mme McGuinn but the combined forces of the US Postal Services and la Poste have actually managed to deliver something from you to me! Oh Happy Days...and thanks (to you -- not the US and French sorters and couriers) for the map. Now I know where to find you, I have booked my ticket and hire car and should be with you for the Easter weekend.
But if I fail to turn up in person, I'll send you something wine related -- rosé, of course -- which you will probably enjoy better than you wouild enjoy my, er, company.
Happy Easter, and may all of your Easter eggs be filled with chocolate goodies.
I was worried that Andy would think we are copying his idea if we open another group but he doesn't seem so. Perhaps we should consider setting our own group after all. You can choose the title. I do not think it will be difficult. Let's have a good think while we are doing something else and come back to it in a while. Couple of weeks? I am afraid I am rather busy.
Thank you Plush..., for your friend request. Nice to "meet" you.
What do you mean by work together to help neighbors? Could you tell me more details if you have one?
My idea for the call if ask donation of radio and mail art together to send the radio station to Tohoku. I found that on TV that they are asking for radio for victim listeners. I will write more detail on call blog.
Oh, I see. I thought you have organized some event or something. Yes, help me if you can when I plan a "call". Thanks "neighbor" sounds good. I misstook you said about your own neighbor in your town. haha. I like how American vase people name to help Tohoku people, "operation Tomodachi".
Thank you so much for your warm and generous comments regarding my work! I am still trying to find my way around this fantastic site. Is it possible for you to give me your address? I will send you something I just finished. I also want to look at your work but am having trouble navigating to it! Any suggestions. I see where you've posted received work....
Dear Rose, I would love to exchange ART for ART. I agree with you--that exchange is sacred. I don't need to see your work to mail you something of mine. I'm not quite sure what you mean about messaging me your address. Is that online? So it doesn't become a record on this site?
With regard to skills...well, I'm self taught and my "artistry" comes from doing. I believe we all can draw but do understand a certain amount of skill comes from process...just like I can't do collage the way many do it on this site....I am constantly wow-ed by what I see here. Cheers for now, Ruth
I gather that you are a bit in the dumps. I am sorry to hear that and I think what you need is a good Mail Art project of your own. To receive stuff is very uplifting.
I have been giving the dolls a lot of thought and have reached the conclusion that the dolls should not be mixed with Andy’s project. By what he said I understand that he welcomes anybody to put a picture of a travelling toy in his blog, only that, not asking for participation in a similar but different project. He is too polite to say it directly. For instance somebody added a photo of a toy monkey in his blog and that is fine, that is what alerted me. What we wanted to do was more of an intrusion in his blog/group and that is not on.
Better will be to start another group and you should be the ‘manager’. I do not think it will be possible to have two people doing the same group, I have never done one and I do not know how it works but I suppose it is not difficult. Anyway it would be a super thing for you to do and will cheer you up no end. Also I have two websites which I have to maintain and that is keeping me very busy so really I should not take up anymore to do.
I am not abandoning you; I will help you with the wording and anything else you want. One idea I had to simplify the project ( if it is complicated people will not participate so much) is to put an undressed doll postcard size for people to download and dress it and then upload it again in the group so we all can see it. This way you do not have to do the documentation, easy. That is good because it doesn’t look like the travelling toy project, it is a dress up project only, rather original, I never seen one before.
PS: I just read your comment about the travelling luggage in Andy's group, that is such a great idea, perhaps better to concentrate on it and leave the dolls for after, they'll keep.
I am happy to go along with your timetable, may be mine will get sorted in the meantime.
My New Year resolution was not to start any project of my own but respond to others more. Same as last year but last year I got into the Artistamps show. This year I will like to stick to it!
Hiya!
It's me back again. A wave of work just washed over me...
So, you wanted to know about my adventures... Let me give you the route: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New Hamsphire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Puerto Rico. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime, was a trip of a lifetime. Seriously, I still can't believe my good luck...
Susanne
You want a fairy story?! I thought your whole life was a fairy story! And isn't our correspondance a fairy story of sorts in which everything will end happily ever after when you send me some mail art? (When you do, add a little note reminding me that you want a fairy story, and i'll see what i can fairy story wise). Regards, the Lost Sock Prince
here is an invitation to pARTicipate in the SECREt eXCHANGE exhibitions...pass the invitation on to your friends, and let me know on my page if you will or won't be able to contribute; for details, go to IUoMA Events...or click on the link http://secretexchange.yolasite.com/
Did you know that if a Knight of the Realm kisses a Lost Sock Princess in Westminster, or anywhere else, she will turn into a pumpkin? (And he will be arrested and incarcerated at Riker's island, no doubt for harassment...and worse)
Bonjour! Nothing had arrived in yesterday's post, and I will have changed countries 3 times before today's arrived. Post from the US to France usually takes 5-7 days...except when those naughty Possums get involved, of course.
I have to make some sandwiches to eat on the plain --ham, mustard, cheese and cukeumber -- and then go.
Dear Rose,
I am back from Milan/Italy. What a strange year: You start travelling, decide to go with the flow and than suddenly the tides take you further and further... (You will know what I mean as soon as I have decided on my upcoming travel plans)... Looking forward to your masterpiece. Nothing has arrived as to yet, but looking forward is already nice....
Great surprise in Italy: I have just met the two artists that got me in touch with Mail Art years and years ago. Needless to say that envelopes and stamps and Air Mail stickers from all over the world where again in the centre of attention...
Susanne
Dear Rose! I absolutely love your work! I received it several days ago but have been out of the IUOMA loop because of terrible back pain and then the flu! I will write more this week and answer your question! Thank you so much! REALLY!
Hiya Rose,
letter has arrived. Great piece! Did you know that I started up by doing artists books. Looking at it: Those 44c stamps are great, too. Custom-made for mail art, one would almost think... :-)) Thanks!
How are things going over there? I am just trying to fit even more travelling into my year...
Susanne
Tags are never l8 - just chillin... I promised Larned (the original Tag Your It guy) that I would keep the event going for no less than a year b4 I thought about handing it to someone else...
Hello :-) - I hope the discussions have made things clearer??? IF not - I am working on the pieces - copies worked into - each one by hand. I started off with some sort of uniformity but I am altering each work individually??? I prefer the hand of the artist - so thats what I give. Please send me your address??? Let me know if you have any other questions???? You know that you have to make 15 copies PLUS your original. the group size has become 16. There were 2 important artists who were omitted. The foibles of too many discussion threads...
our trip to Austria was fantastic, great weather and lots of Friedenreich Hundertwasser art in the hotel. Do you know him? i love him, seems superficial but he was very concerned with the environment when nobody thought about those things yet.
Thanks for asking after Giles health, nothing is wrong with him just he is very fat and lazy and so I take Canigou the dog who keeps himself fit. Here he is:
Well he is not, the photo will not load. this is an improvement as for three days I could not even get to the IUOMA sites, will send it later
