Welcome Brook, I always happy with a  new friend specially from Seatle, reminds me of the superb Fraiser series which  now are being repeated all over again, never tiring, always funny. As to sharing personal info it depends on the person, some friendswith whom I have corresponded for years are still mysterious, others I feel i have known all my life. In general it happens gradually, lifting the veil by inches if not by milimeters. I tend to comunicate in pictures. For the moment I shall tell you I also grow tomatoes and a hot pepper called Cheyenne, exquisite! Indoors, being England the weather cannot be trusted.

Just something I had to hand,Cheers

Hi Brooke. Welcome to IUOMA. I'll mail ya something tomorrow and you can mail back if you want to.

  • yves maraux

what's about green tomatoes around Pacific Northway ?

  • yves maraux

fried grenn tomatoes ? i don't know that one ; but Mom used to do delicious  green tomatoes jam (i keep some in my Musée de la Conserve ) , and i make green tomatoes achar (ready for a cookbook) . About tomatoes from my diary , my garden situation get me unlucky with , when i decided to have undercover art Partner i realised Mom tomatoes prod made me very shameful with my very ridiculous small tomatoes ....

Ah, I just noticed your question to me earlier this month - One Monday, I made up MAM for Facebook. It's served me well as it reminds me to make, scan/photograph, post, and send at least once during the week.

Brooke, received your awesome note card yesterday....thank you...it is always nice to meet a new artist thru the mail! Happy mail art to you <3
  • Valentine Mark Herman

    Bonsoir, Brooke!

Thanks for your card...and letter. Very nice indeed.

And, somewhat belatedly, welcome to IUOMA. You say that you feel it a bit nerve-wracking. Don't let it be. Mail Art is meant to be, and in my opinion is, fun. Go with the flow. One of the good things about the Mail art community is that we are all equal in the mail. Do your own thing, develop your own style, and don't worry (too much!) about what anyone else is doing.  There are some truly weird and wacky people here, a,d now you are one of them.

You mention a recent exhibition that I had. Well, there have been 4 this year, and if you look at the 'Exhibirions 2014' part of my web-site www.val-herman-art.eu  you will find details of them and lots of photos. End of advert.

I've sent you back an invitation to one of my Exhibitions, but you will need a time machine if you want to see it, as it took place (in Holland) in May last year.

Perhaps you can come to another of my Exhibitions if you ever make it to the South of France.

    Let's keep exchanging MailArt?

    Bon weekend, Val

Hi Brooke. Bummer that your card didn't make it. :(  You asked about layers.  I build my layers with matte medium, decorative tape, and sometimes I do packing tape transfers.  When the washi/decorative tape doesn't want to lay down, I cover it with packing tape.  I look forward to hearing from you soon :)

  • Mail Art Martha

Glad you enjoyed the bookie, yes I also wish for summer here in grey England!

That is the purpose of art, perhaps, to make us dream.

  • borderlinegrafix

    Thanks for the collage, Brooke!

  • Petrolpetal

Hi! I'll be sending you some mail soon!

  • De Villo Sloan

Glad it arrived, Brooke. Gosh - I think that's a Trashpo piece you're talking about w/ collage scraps. Some of it's just raw material if you want to use it in something too. Anyway, send anytime you are inclined. - DVS
