Why I am involved in Mail-Art:
It's a great way to connect with other artists and I love the opportunity to send my artwork out to someone who will enjoy it. My first (and only so far) mail art piece was sent to a friend back in the 1980s for inclusion in a sculpture he was making, but I was unaware that there was a mail art movement until several years ago. A friend encouraged me to join this group and I'm looking forward to sending and receiving mail art.

    Dear Robin,

    Welcome to IUOMA!

It's a great bunch of folks and I hope that you enjoy exchanging Mail Art with us. I'm your Mentor, and if I can help to ease you into IUOMA in any way, then please don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to explain what's going on and how IUOMA works.

If you haven't already done so, I suggest you take a look at the 'New to IOUMA' page (4th from the left at the top of the IUOMA home page) where you'll find a 10-point Introductory Guide that should give you an insight as to what is going on.

Would you like to exchange some Mail Art with me? If so, send me something to 1 Rue de la Vieille Fontaine, F-11130 Sigean, France, and I PROMISE to send you something back.

Hoping you enjoy your IUOMA days.

But do be warned: Mail Art & IUOMA can be addictive.

    And great fun, too.

    Regards, Val Herman

Thanks for the amazing envelope with it's terrific map. What was inside was more amazing. Your mail arrived yesterday, today I presented a workshop. One of the things that I showed the participants was how to make a simple folded book, AND gave them a hand out on how to do another type of book and guess what? The tiny book you sent was an example of that 2nd book! I was astounded that it arrived just in time for me to show it to the participants. They LOVED seeing it. Thank you so much. I don't have time to scan and post as I'm off on a brief holiday early tomorrow. When I return I'll do that.

Earthling, this is the last but certainly not the least welcome message to IUOMA you receive. I’m a celestial mail artist living in a heavenly corner of the faraway universe called Republik van Patland. When you joined IUOMA on June 20 I was unable to welcome you on board.  At the time I was in a celestial journey far beyond the Milky Way. Now, back to planet Earth, I´d love to be the other end when you decide it’s the right time to start trading snail mail art. If this is the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

    The Celestial Scribe

    Terrene Embassy

    The Celestial Republik van Patland

    Caixa Postal 24827

    Curitiba-PR

    80510-970

    Brazil

II look forward to see a piece of yours in our terrene mailbox. I will do my homework after receiving yours. This is a celestial promise. I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Republik van Patland official envelope provider.
