Hi, I saw the link of postcrossing project in your blog. It is interested me. I may want to try when have more time.
Just curios why there are some Thai word on top of your page? What does it say?
  • Hélène LAGACHE

    :-)
  • Elaine B(atgirl)

Pleased to make your aquaintance. I do postcrossing as well!
  • Tomoe N

That is good you like to learn new languages. My ex is Thai and I used to learn Thai language too. So I know that is Thai alphabet. I can still some words in Thai, but forgot to read/write which was hard to do. haha. Now, I am learning Spanish, because my partner is Mexican haha.
    Thanks for your reply.
  • Samantha Bragg

I heard great things about postcrossing.. but Ive never tried that site before isn't it limited to post cards only? Hope you like IUOMA!
  • Tomoe N

Same as Esterners, Thai alphabet is nothing in other languages and it is hard to remember for me too. And the pronunciation has 4-5 tones that we don't have in Japan. Actually, Thai grammar is more similar to English. I learned that only Japanese and Korea has the same grammatical order.

Spanish is difficult what to put after, feminine and masculine. But I know more or less about English, so some Spanish words are similar. Actually vowel pronunciation is close to Osaka accent.
  • Samantha Bragg

awesome well it's something to definitely keep in mind! Thanks for the info.. what's the best way to exchange swaps?
  • Maria M. Malonzo

I'm on postcrossing too. But I haven't tried sending mail art there. Not sure if the recipients will like it. :D I love your art by the way.
  • Tomoe N

Many Westerner say Japanese are one of the most difficult language. We have 50 alphabet, Hiragana and Katakana, and Kanji (which came from China but more simple versions). Lots to remember, but English has only 26. I think the Grammar and pronunciation is difficult for Japanese though. We don't have "th" sound, "l" "r" sound that never get accomplished. Such like R in "art".
  • Tomoe N

Ok so what is different btw, exchange mail art in IUOMA and Postcrossing? I have already exchanging mail art with some members, from US, Europe, Asia kind of all of the world!
  • Tomoe N

I see. To me, both are English site, and I have never seen any Japanese here yet, so both are International mail. It just seems like different groups, maybe IUOMA has more Fluxus art in concept. But I am willing to join your and be your pen pal.

Dear Ains, An envelope is in the post for you, and I hope it gets to you safely and that you like it. Apart from anything else, it will improve your French. Regards Val(entine Mark Herman, and no, there is no need to call me 'Your beloved One'!)
  • Suet

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Hi! I'll send you an Essay Envelope, but you have to remind me of what your address is, please. Merci beacucoup, Val
  • Valentine Mark Herman

    Dear Ains,
I just received a great envelope from you,and would like to say many thanks indeed.
I love its creativity and the way you combine all sorts of materials, colours, writing styles, clippings, etc.
There seem to be two sorts of Mail Artists I'm in contact with these days. One set, the 'modernists', seem to use very sophisticated computer, image manipulation, etc techniques. The second set, the 'traditionalists', use, well, traditional techniques, such as pens, drawings, clippings and various collage/assemblage methods.
I'm in the second category (mostly because i'm not computer literate enough to be in the first category if i wanted to be there -- which I don't). On the basis of the very special envelope you sent me, you seem to be in this category too.
And I'm glad that you are.
    Thanks again,
Regards, Val (who maiuled you a copy of his British Essay Stamps Envelope a day or so ago.)
  • Valentine Mark Herman

Dear Ains, Glad you liked the 'Rainbow'. I'll send you a Rainbow collage in the next couple of days (when the Post Office reopens). Ignore the Totally Horrible Envelope (for shich i truly apologise), and enjoy the collage. Best wishes, Val
