This is a friendly welcome to The Eternal Network from a friendly mail artist, living in a… guess what!...a friendly country.  A perfect start here is mail-art exchange. I would like to be the other end on your very beginning at IUOMA when you decide it’s the right time for you to start trading art.   If it’s the case at the time your envelope should read as follows:

    The Celestial Scribe
    Caixa Postal 24827
    Curitiba-PR
    80510-970
    Brazil

II look forward to see your piece in my mailbox.  Yes! I will do my homework after receiving yours.  That’s a celestial promise.  I’m Patricio, Celestial Scribe & Envelope Provider.

"as soon as the ink in my stamp pad unfreezes i will work on something for you" What you may try is to send at least some ink to Brazil.  Last weekend the temperature reached 39 Celsius in the place where I spent sunday. Hope to see your piece arriving soon to the mail box.  Scribe

    Bonjour Jesse!

Welcome to Arty Slides International -- I hope that you enjoy the Group.

And, hey! we're neighbours, or rather we live in the same Département. I live in Sigean, twixt Narbonne & Perpignan.

     Perhaps we'll meet up one day -- I've yet to meet a French Mail Artist in person;

    Au revoir, Val

    PS you'll need to give the Group your postal address if you join the mailing, 'cos it doesn't appear here on your page;

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Bonjour again/encore! Here's an offer that you can't refuse (I hope!): Would you like to be President of Arty Slides International France? I'm temporarily Acting President, and looking for some else to take over the job. Your tasks as President will not be excessive -- in fact apart from buying me a glass of wine or pastis when/if we ever meet, I can't think of any tasks.

    Go on...say 'Yes/Oui'.

    Thank you/Merci,

    Cordialement, Val

    Hi! "I know it's only rock'n'roll/ But I like it/like it/ Yes I do".

I've lived in Sigean for about 10 years, after living in Holland for 25-odd years. I'm British, and my partner est une francaise.

Yea, let's take some coffee, wine, beer, pastis etc some time.

I assume, from the friendly and favourable tone of your reply, that you are going to be President of Arty Stamps international, France; Thank you.

For your diary, and if you're around, I have some Exhibitions planned here in Sigean in the Spring.

The first is a mail art themed one called 'Sige(a)nveloppes' that will be held in the local Médiathèque from 9-16 May with a vernissage on the 9th at 18.00. This Exhibition is linked to one called 'L étè à Sigean'.that will be held in August.  You can find details of this on the Mail Arts project page. Want to submit an envelope?

The second is called 'DiaPositive Art' and will also be held at the Mediatheque from 18 May to 2 June. As you probably know the French for a(n Arty) Slide is a diapositive. Vernissage on the 18th at 18.00. There'll be a 'Return of the diaPositive' Exhibition in July.

Hope to see you at one or more of these and/or in Carcassone.

    Regards, Val

  • Valentine Mark Herman

Thanks, Jesse. An hour or so in a bar with me will help your French come on in leaps and bounds. 'Un pastis, s'il vous plait'. 'Une biere, svp'. 'Un vin rouge, svp'. 'Un café, svp', etc. Then 'L'addition'. Finally 'Merci et au revoir'.

The Complete Val's Language Survival in French Tapes are available this week at the reduced price of...well whatever I can get. I was accepting old French francs until last Saturday, but no longer, alas

    Vive de Gaulle!

Bonjour Monsieur! As President of the French branch of Arty Slides International, you MUST sign on for the Carousel. Please do so...NOW.

Failure to meet this request will mean that your house will bevisited by preseidential candidates in the forthcoming election.

So it's easier for you to send Arty Slides than to face MM Holland, Sarkozy, etc.

    Merci, Val

  • Valentine Mark Herman

    Bonsoir Monsieur Jesse!

All the Carousel stuff is on the Arty Slides International Group opening page -- it's a discussion/dialogue that's been going on for a few days now; What you need to do is tell Sue Hobbs that you are in it.

    And then, 'I know/It's only rock'n'roll/But I like it, like it/Yes I do'.

Who knows? One day I might stop by..for tea, if you have any, cos I don't do coffee

Thanks from the Glimmer Twins & Val

    Dear Jesse,

I'm currently revising the organisation of Arty Slides International. You're the President of the French branch, but don't seem to be active in the Group's discussions or activities.

I'm writing to ask if you want to continue being President? If I don't hear from you by 10 June, I will assume that you DON'T want to be President (of France!) anymore.

    Hope you are well.

    Thanks and regards, Val
