1952 (when I sent a "Thankyou for my Birthday Present' to my Grandma, and illustrated it with a little drawing). Since then my Mail Art history has been, well, interesting
Dearest Valentine, so glad you are at home with your hairy friends and your fresh box of mail! I should let you know I adore my TP and wrapping paper and the lovely stamp that brought them here! You are dreamy!
Yes, I am the sender of the "tube", I am certainly hoping it has met with you in it's proper form, was there no legible reference to my moniker? So sad!
Then let me take this opportunity to say here...."... a splendid old tube from Fred's garage that he abandoned the day I went to take care of him. Well....he died and left me there with his things. I found the tube in the garage with it's special label and an awful smell that led me to believe that, Fred, he had meddled with chemistry! After a bit of cleaning I began to think; I like Val so well with his hat, I think it should go to him."
More of Fred's things found their way to me, a rolled up, safely kept ,sheet of paper, many sheets of paper, bound with ribbon. An odd paper almost like waxy, or true parchment. It must be special as it was at the very back of his bedroom filing cabinet along with a small book titled "The Specialist".Which I decided to turn into an address book. But I used the paper for the monarch.
Then, subject to the idea of monarchy, that which is foreign to me, I put my objects together, which required an ale. So the birth of the tube;
What is a monarch? A butterfly.
What supports a monarch? A podium.
Well what in the world does a monarch support? "THE QUEEN'S KNEECAPS", or they should anyway.
All this stuffed and stacked in order of monarchy into a little tube.
It was much fun and thank you for the inspiration!
Phew, I had to spit that out fast.....okay slow directions: here is a picture of one side removed. Cut through only the tape and it will slide apart.Let me know how the event went!
I am so glad I am still getting entertainment from the "tube", perhaps you will find the best part about it has been this excitement over opening it!
Numbers??? I don't get that. Some ideas: the meaning of life according to one's self; a retrospective about toilet paper from different countries from a cultural/anthropological viewpoint; spreading of global goodwill; inventing a progressive tale with or without words; or do we want it to be a lighter topic?cheryl h.
Thank you, Val, for the image of the Angel of the North. I did look it up, but i could not scan an image of it to our Postal discussion. From far away it must look like a cross? a windmill with only two arms? It is HUGE!Delete Comment
Thank you for your fairy story which arrived yesterday :-) I ensured all the cats were settled as there are no children and began to read. They were enthralled :-))
Just be patient. It's been a helluva month--lots of company, one major holiday, tons of yard and household work......well try (at least try), Your Royal Single Sockedness.

Val, are you into foodpo? Is that some cheesepo from Angie? It is making me hungry and it is way after midnight here. Please put it in the fridge for tomorrow! Thanks, and KALINYXTA! xx
Your most recent postcard to our possum mailbox is now on display in the blog area of my page.
I can almost decipher the French wording on your cleverly disguised bit of ephemera. I think I like this one more than most of yours, in that it has that mappishness I so crave.
Thank you so much again for keeping your work fresh, lively, fun to receive, and cleverly derived out of your imagination.
He will no doubt first be clouted a hard one across the kisser by her very irate prince! LOL Noblesse Obliges and all that.
Of course, anyone kissing anybody other within the walls of Westminster or its bounds would be liable to at least receive the handy show of disregard. I mean, grooms hardly ever kiss brides at the altar there, so I'm told. Is it some less than warm or fuzzy British tradition stretching to Victoria's time? Just curious.
Bon Jour! The image is actually from the movie "The Giant Behemoth" one of those 1950s anti-nuclear monster movies...of which I can't seem to enjoy greatly...-jim,
They made it! And before you leave for Holland, ol' boy! So nice to see Wills and Kate! Thank you, thank you, thank you! And for the lovely Royal paper and paper ;-)
As you can tell by now.....Strelnikov sends out quite random stuff. Basically, Strelnikov likes to drink (excessively) :) and then post stuff to people.
Before you're off and rolling tomorrow, you might wish to check that Poste box of yours for the mail I sent you. How long does it take for regular mail to travel to you from our neck of the woods globally?
Just thought I'd ask.

Tostie met ham en kaas is eigenlijk iets typisch Hollands, het zijn niet alleen de eetgewoonten die het verschil maken tussen Vlaanderen en Nederland ;-)
thanks, Val. I'm in Manhattan to celebrate with bob. Visited MOMA yesterday. More about that later...Enjoyed the Latham tale....was he the same Latham that wrote a book about Jargon?
Watching an amazing documentary on the space race called "When We Left Earth"- thought of you. It is harrowing. Since I was born in '76, my memories of NASA are the heart-breaking tragedies, not the victories like the moon landing. It is embarrassing how little I knew about the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions- so I'm educating myself on things like g-force, lunar rovers and the crew members no one remembers.
here is an invitation to pARTicipate in the SECREt eXCHANGE exhibitions...pass the invitation on to your friends, and let me know on my page if you will or won't be able to contribute; go to IUoMA Events...or click on the link http://secretexchange.yolasite.com/ thx, Terry Reid, and hope to hear from you

Connect the dots between the Johns and Burbank/NYC...
I met John Evans in 1987 at a gathering Lon Speiglman hosted here in Los Angeles.
We continue to get together whenever I go to New York and he to LA.
Our next visit June 13 - 18 in NYC.
The fake collage project started in 2006 and oh boy is he amused.

You've graduated to real solids for a change, I see.
What exactly is a "cow turd" in English terms, anyway?
Could this be another (certainly less appealing) way of describing Devonshire Double Cream, by any chance?
Curious.

On the "plain"?????
Spooneristically, that's a new one.
The "H", in this case, might well be silent.
Or, it make be related to another word of a different sort, and not silent.
Let me just say I refuse to comment unless properly bribed.
