I like communication, art, paper, painting and concepts. The ideal combination for doing Mail-Art. Worked with rubberstamps as a child and started sending out letters as soon as I could write. Discovered that it was called mail-art in 1980. Have been discovering ever since and in the last years also promoting this free cultural exchange.

My, my, Ruud,
KLM is fast! Or is it the Olympic Air?
Feb.17th and here it all is!
Thank you so much...for soooo much!
Now I will have some add&pass things to do.
Also, you see, I still like the "stamp IUOMA" because
it has the whole explanation as to what "IUOMA" means...
that is so good for the postal clerks to see :-)
Hi Ruud! First, thank you for creating the IUOMA site! I am having so much fun...finding all the members so supportive, creative, generous. This is proving to be a freeing place for me.
Second, where can I find help with some basic technical questions, like how do I add photos of mailart I receive with my comments so that all members can view? Sorry, I am kind of slow to get with the blogging, etc. scene!
Hi Ruud-
Thanks for your comment. It depends on the drawing. This one was about 20-30 minutes. I sped it up to match up with the sound track that I created.
hi Ruud
Thank you very much for your attendance, your work and your presence in the committee. Is a big help for me and exhibition.
all the best, Thomai

and illustrate it :)
If you can't decide on an actual quote, you can also share a particular
scene or even make an 'alternative' poster for your favorite movie.
You can also add a short explanation about why this particular
quote/scene/movie is important to you.

Works will be documented on the blog and exhibited in a venue in
Sarajevo in July, during the Sarajevo Film Festival when the entire town

Nice items at the IUOMA shop, Ruud...I'll have to look in to how to order a few. And many thanks for the envelope full of goodies! It arrive today, and I like all the stickers, pics. You are lookin' good with John Held in NYC!
I'll try to get that FLUXUS rubber stamp paper back to you soon. All my stamps and tools are in Thess, and not here at the seaside. Maybe next week I'll get some sent to you.
Hi Ruud... Just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work within the mailart community. I am hosting The Face of Jesus - An International MailArt Gallery Exhibition to be held in March of 2011. I am getting wonderful images in the mail and plan on posting a separate web page soon for this event. Can you help get the word out to other artists for me? I will create a MailArt website for this Show as soon as I receive 50 pieces of work, then I will continue to add other artists as they come in. Thank you and Best Wishes to You!
Seems like I had a page on IUOMA a year or two ago, but I lost the password and
here I am again.....starting over. I wanted to ask you about your books which were
published using Lulu. How did that work out for you....costwise and otherwise?
I've been active with music these past few years. But I've also checked in with mail art
at some events like Joel Cohen's big gathering at MOMA (2005) for the Dada Exhibition.
That was a great time and good to meet old friends....some for the first time. I do miss the
connections and now that my four kids are getting near college age...I may be more active.
Where is Charles Francois? And have you talked with Guy Bleus in recent years. They are/were
both dear friends. I do miss them a lot.
Read a thread on IOUMA about Eternal Network and was a bit amused by some of the comments
.....like the artist who liked the graphic cover design. Interestingly, the book is considered rare and I've seen copies going for $380.00 each. Then again, awhile back I saw five issues available through
Amazon that were going for $50.00 each. Thought I should buy them, but you know.....I've already read the book. ;-)
I read parts of an MIT Press edition about Net Art (At A Distance) and was a bit puzzled by the lack of information about how important Mail Art was to the development of Networking and the internet. Held wrote a chapter, but he falls far short of even giving a word to the NC92 year. That was a HUGE event in the expansion of networking ideals among mail artists. Hell, MIT Press wouldn't even look at Mail Art when I sent them a book proposal back in 1993. They still don't seem to get it.
It all amazes me after so many years of history under the bridge.
Say, I've always been amazed at your stamina, man! You have certainly stayed on course without
the burnout. How do you do it and what has kept you truckin on?
The "friend" passage thang is kind of amusing, no? My 19 year old daughter tells me she has a Facebook friend who will be attending Rhode Island School of Design with her this Fall....and who brags about having over 2,000 friends. My GAWD! I remember in the 70s when mainstream artists/critics etc. doubted there could be an underground international movement of 5,000 Mail Artists. I recall Carlo Pittore saying there were probably over 10,000 Mail Artists and even I had some doubt about that.....But hey, 2,000 friends on Facebook! I wonder how many Mail Artists have archives with over 2,000 addresses?
The truth is that I had sent some projects MANY TIMES IN VARIOUS holdings of mail-art was lost in the past
assumed that thrilled not been the case
Anyway this is happening
to wish you well wherever passing have you a nice vacation
Bonjour Ruud! I'm trying to get into the Mail-Art Projects part of the web-site, but failing to do so. Is it just me (and my normal level of computer illiteracy) that is not having any success in accessing it, or is there something wrong with the link to it? Help, please! Thanks and regards, Val
