MailArt call "Building a better planet. More space to women!"
Any technique and size
No return
no deadline
All material received will be published on the website https://buildingabetterplanet.blogspot.com/
INTERNATIONAL MAIL ART PROJECT "Building a better planet. More space to women!"
The action of women around the world is aimed at building a better planet. Offering more and better opportunities to women gives a more intense and concrete hope for everyone: for the conservation of flora and fauna, for climate’s health and to heal the economy. The future is female. Women smell of love, they are positive, accustomed to hope and to bestow trust. They are fecund, all of them, they give existence. They are persevering, generous, sensitive, strong. Women generate, if they want to; educated on contraception, they can consciously take part in procreation. Future generations are already here! Women take care of Earth, they study, work, have time for friends, for love, they have passions, interests. Women are free and want men by their side.

In June 2020, the Fine Arts School of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil will house a MAIL ART exhibition and invites all the community to participate! All the works received will be displayed (except for those who violate human rights).
The call, Re-volver, overlaps the verb and the noun: revolver (in portuguese, the act of revolving, turning over, displacing, changing positions) and revólver (in portuguese, a specific type of handgun), but does not delineate a theme. Plus, during the exhibition, all the received pieces will be offered in their original envelopes to visitors, to be freely handled and “revolved” by them. The authors who wish to have their names included in the promotional material must simply identify themselves.
Works will be accepted until June 1st at the following addresses:

Published in October 2019, the Snail-Mail & Mail Art Visual Poetry Art Call Sendmenudeletters boasts today the active participation of 92 artists, art students, and anyone interested, with an average of two works each, totalling more than 180 paper, digital, video and animation works. The exhibition is online, on the official website www.sendmenudeletters.com
The art call will end in October 2020; the curators will then prepare a digital catalogue (ePub).
Never before has the theme of the body been so topical. Re-defined, secluded, increasingly virtual. Physical contact denied. A new, unforeseen scenario foreshadows major changes, and we can’t predict how permanent they will be.
The imaginary of technology-mediated sex - the central theme of our call - has now a new player, at the moment the absolute protagonist of our lives.
Are new visions in the process of being distilled? The curators call on artists, art students, dreamers to envision a near future of love affairs and vital energy, which is always difficult to freely express.

CALL FOR MAIL ART (or EMAILED ART)
SYNERGY in the Days of COVID
This call for mail art is open to everyone from all over the world, there is no jury, and no fee. Art must be received through the mail. Both flat and 3-dimensional work will be accepted. All pieces will be displayed.
Please respond to this theme and how it affects you or your community in the days of pandemic:
The project is "Synergy": the benefit that results when two or more agents work together to achieve something either one couldn't have achieved on its own. It's the concept of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
Please write on the piece or include: name of artist, address, phone, email and website.
All work must be original and created recently. Work must be no larger than 8.5”x11”. All styles and esthetics are welcome. The content of submissions should be appropriate for all viewers.
A digital catalog will be available to all contributing artists
All submissions must be received by July 15, 2020. Work will be exhibited virtually at LonnaKellyStudio.com (a website recently created to show digital responses to bi-monthly prompts to create and share work related to life during COVID) and a pop-up will be a post-COVID goal.
We will practice safe mail protocols – even though we know mail is not on the list of easily transmitting germs/virus.
Mail work to:
Lonna Kelly Studio, LLC
28 Sans Souci Drive
Pawling, NY 12564
Lonna Kelly, photographer, was inspired by Ray Johnson to create an ongoing mail art series. Every year since 2016 Kelly has printed one of her photographs as a postcard, handwriting on the card’s front, Modify and Mail to…adding her address. The cards are given away, left for people to fin. d in stores, galleries, and even mailed.
Matthew Hogan was curator at the Franklin Furnace Archive, an artist’s space in Tribeca New York City. He was involved with an international mail art / correspondence art exhibition in 1984. The FFA collects and exhibites artists books, performance art and supports artists in general. Today, Matthew manages a library, a movies house and a natural history collection in Pawling NY called the Akin Free Library.

Hello:)
Orange County Fountain Valley Library would like to invite you to participate at their Mail-art challenge. We hope during this difficult time (caused by Covid-19) a little bit of art will help you to distract your worries for a moment. Please read the details of the challenge below:
Timeline: May 1st through July 31st.
Exhibition: This depends on when the library re-opens. You will be notified as soon as there is any exact information.
Theme: Favorite book, literary character, or other book related concept.
General guidelines: Mail art should be no smaller than 4”x 6” (10.16 x 15.24 cm) and no larger than 5”x 7”. (12.70 x 17.78 cm)
3D objects or folded work will be accepted but must fit within the dimension parameters.
Don’t forget to include: Artists are asked to include their name, location, title (if any), and brief description (no more than 50 words).
Address:
Please note: Mail art sent for the exhibition will not be returned.
If you want your mail-art to be displayed on our website under galleries, please send us a photo of your work to info [at] mailasmile [dot] org.
Website: https://mailasmile.org

Hear, hear Jennifer. Yes, this was obviously written by someone who does not make art...
I'll also note that the term "timeline" is a bit ambiguous. What is one to take from that? Is that the deadline for submissions, or just some randomness?
3D objects by their very nature will occupy more space than a 2D card, so a third measurement should be given to clarify said parameters. And yes, please, let's give these poor suffering artists some distraction from the goings-on of the world outside that they've only been dealing with for their entire lives.

@ Jennifer and Keith, I think that the meaning behind that part of the text you’re judging, is that also people can participate who usually don’t make art.
I suppose the timeline is uncertain because libraries are closed (at least in my country, NL, and by this mail art call I learned that this is also the case in the US (at least the mentioned city).
Apart from that, 3D makes me think of pop-up mail art, which I’ve never made before so I think it inspiring :-)
In the past I joined several projects at mailasmile.org and the women behind this website are great, creative, not-for-profit and caring people.
So - despite (also) my backlog I’d be happy to join :-)
